New To Reloading - Tips, Suggestions, Tricks of the Trade?

Milkd, I know I am new to this, but I was under the impression the Lee factory crimp die for the 44spl/44mag and 38spl/357mag were a roll crimp. Guess I got a lot of learning to do... But, I will take your advice on the ram prime tool, and using only loads from published reloading material and...

    Redhawk Hogue Grip Question

5/8" -M'BOGO Wixedmords, Thanks! And yes the grain was a big surprise for me, sometimes when you order wood grips online unseen, they are not always stellar, but the kingwood has great contrast which is exactly what I wanted. I have a pair of Ahrends combat grips for a S&W .38spl snubbie and I...

Slippingaway and Jimbo357mag, thanks and yes I have a good dial caliper from when I mounted a compensator on my Beretta. Sweetwilliam, as far as friends who also handload, none actually. Ive been helping out as range coach for almost a month now and I hope to befriend a few handloaders there...

    Redhawk Hogue Grip Question

Just wanted to give you guys an update. This is where I am at with my Houge grips. I was able to file out the inside wall that meets the front strap, using a triangle file. Then pulled off any excess material that was protruding past the back strap. Then I used 220 sandpaper to pull off girth...

New To Reloading - Tips, Suggestions, Tricks of the Trade?

Unfortunately, I picked the wrong time to get into reloading. But I am a very determined guy and I am being optimistic that this madness will soon subside. Keep in mind I am trying to do this on the cheap. I have purchased a RCBS Partner Single Stage Press, Lee .44 Spl/.44Mag Deluxe Carbide 4...

    Redhawk Hogue Grip Question

Thanks Contender... Jimbo357mag - broomstick and sandpaper, very nice. Hittman - your 41's look sweet! I don't think it's much trouble, and I am trying (really hard) not to have a shoebox full of forgotten grips. Growing up with a father who is an architect/carpenter, I have always enjoyed...

    Redhawk Hogue Grip Question

Recently I acquired a blued 1985 .44 mag Ruger Redhawk. It is in great condition and shows a very faint thin turn line on the cylinder. Last night I changed to the Hogue Smooth Grips in Kingwood. These are gorgeous grips but now I have two issues. One is the Hougue grip a bit big, I have medium...

    1880's Colt SAA .45

Thanks JWhitmore44, That was very informative, and helpful to know. Sturgis270, I just found out that Colt offers a premium phone-in service for SAA with a serial under 340,000. This cost a little more but has a quicker turn around. The holidays crimped my budget so I am hoping in Feb/March I...

    1965 S&W Model 36 with Arhends Grips

Thanks David, Yeah I have to say I like that variation, especially with the contour of these grips. Most of what I have found said that this tweak was done in '66 ...which is close enough I guess. Next on my list of snubbies is a M-60.
