I bought one and ended up sending it back to Ruger when the firing pin left dents on the chamber without dry firing. The replaced the whole gun. The replacement had numerous issues, so it was sent again. They fixed the issues again, but the accuracy seem to have been affected. I'm seriously...
I sent mine back in the spring to have them work on the BC gap and they ended up replacing the cylinder/crane/ hammer and a few other parts. Everything is now as it should be as far as tolerances go, but I'm worried a new issue has popped up.
Maybe it's just the big ugly green fiber optic dot...
I'd guess the firing pin more than the guide rod. Check to be sure that the firing pin isn't broke and the stop pin isn't bent, allowing the pin to go out too far and contact the chamber mouth. I read once of Ruger using roll pins for the firing pin stop pins due to supplier issues I believe...
Got the gun back from Ruger today. They replaced the crane, cylinder, hammer, transfer bar, firing pin, and trued up the throat. It looks like they put over 150 rounds through it of different makes and weights. They sent a picture of the test target.
The BC gap is now parallel and the BC gap...
Can't get photobucket to work, but here is a google photo link.

I've read of some owners trimming down the step a few thousand's so the hammer will transfer more energy and give better ignition. Looking at the wear marks I'm thinking that doing...
I got around to cleaning mine today and measuring the BC gap. Numerous chambers at .008 some at .007 and the remainder at .006 IMHO this is too big. This gun splatters me much more than my original and it gets MUCH dirtier. The gap is also .001 wider on the LH side than the right, meaning...
I have a MKI, MKII, MKIII and a Victory. If you could find a threaded barrel MKI or MKII go for it. Other than that get a Victory. Sure you could buy a threaded barrel MKIV, but it'll cost you $100+ more than the Victory and you'll dump another $75 into the trigger to make it better. Victory...
MKIV has an easy 1 button take down, the Victory requires the removal of a single screw.
Ruger has a safety recall on the MKIV, S&W had issues with the takedown screw coming loose. Both issues have been resolved.
Just my opinion, but you stand a much better chance of getting a usable factory...
Google the Tandemkros video as suggested earlier. It'll more than likely fix your issue and keep you from the hassle of possibly shipping the gun back to Ruger.
I wonder if this will work?

EGW should be able to provide you the dimensions of the dovetail so you can see if it'll fit yours.
