Very nice, gopguy! I bought this one in early May of 1992 (grips in pictures are aftermarket). Ruger had just previously done a small batch of blued guns in this configuration, and I missed out. When I saw this one, I grabbed it. Mag-Na-Port, and others, were making money cutting down 7 1/2"...
Picked up a Snake Slayer 3 1/2" barrel with the 3" chamber a few days ago and shot it yesterday. It's important to do some pattern tests before carrying for self defense.
Recoil wasn't bad with lead or jacketed .45 Colt reloads (about 900-950 fps). Recoil was about the same with some 2 1/2"...
I just picked up 5 1/2" 520-19166. Case dated 07/31/09
Same shop had 4 5/8" 520-19376, but it is spoken for.
The Nov 2009 issue of Combat Handguns magazine has 4 5/8" 520-17510 as the centerfold (now that's some bathroom reading material!!! I must be old:( ). Great article in the CH magazine...

Wow, great story and thanks for posting the ad! I remember as kid in the early 80s going into the Dave Cooks Southglen Mall and looking at the various S&Ws and Rugers and dreaming of the day I could own one. In 1986 my dad and I went in there after such an ad and he bought me a Rossi 92 Saddle...
I have a model KRBN-455WX Convertible with serial #
48-2396x
Case envelope dated 02/09/05
Warning notice on side of barrel. I looked at several the shop had and picked the best. All the guns had polishing flaws, dings, scratches, etc. Quality control was really bad at this time. Mine still...
