    Found my .44 Special

I've been a 44 special fan for a long time and have had a Blackhawk flat top for about a year. Did't care for the thin black plastic grips so ordered some stags from Ken Driskill (bigmtnman on Gunbroker) in CO....perfect solution. They were a more plump and feel much better than the originals.

    Front sight visibility

I recently bought a 5.5” 44 Special Blackhawk Bisley Flat Top and am having trouble seeing the front sight. I have had a 4” 44 Blackhawk FT for some time and have had no problem with the sights. Even though both sights are basically similar, the Bisley sights, depending on the light and target...

What to use on old holster to keep it from going south?

#1 on Lexol. Recommended to me over 30 years ago by a third generation Italian cobbler who took care of the local police department's leather goods. He said; "Rub it in with your hands. Good for your skin." Works well and smells and feels good.

Ruger Single Seven .327 Fed mag

Have an addiction do we? :) I understand but don't worry, it's very common. I'll work up to it one at a time. I have 4", 5.5" and 7.5" Blackhawks/Vaquero. Update: A 5.5" Single Seven is in the mail. Will post report later.

Ruger Single Seven .327 Fed mag

Thanks David, I was leaning toward the 5.5 but the Quinn report seems to confirm my thoughts. I was surprised to see that the 7" seemed to show a case of diminishing returns. Longer does not always translate to more power. Interesting. I have a Ruger SP 101 in 327 and thoroughly enjoy it. I...

Ruger Single Seven .327 Fed mag

I'm going to buy a Ruger Single Seven and would like to hear from owners about their preference for the 4 5/8" or the 5.5". Which did you choose and why? Do you wish you had bought the other? Comments?

    grip question...44 spl flat top

I'm pretty new to Rugers and just bought a new model Blackhawk 44 special flat top. I want to replace the original grips but am confused about what to look for. Can't find any specific to that model. I have a new model Blackhawk 45 convertible and found grips for it but the Flat Top model is...

    Crimping the 45acp...

5of7, My 45acp dies are 546554, for 45apc/45 auto rim/ 45 win mag. To get a taper crimp for this set requires a separate taper crimp die; part 044172. However, I am not so concerned with the crimp style as with the last step re-sizing feature of the Lee crimp dies. I also checked with Lee Cust...

    Crimping the 45acp...

Background: I shoot only revolvers (lost the use of my left hand in a motorcycle crash) and I reload for .32/327 Fed, .38/357, 44mag/spl and 45 Colt and I use Lee Factory crimp dies for all of them. I just bought a Ruger 45 Blackhawk convertible in 45 Colt/45 APC and Hornady dies for 45 APC. My...
