In the thread "Lever action Rifle .44 mag or 45-70" I pretty much stated why I like the 45-70s both single and lever actions.
Well I thought I would post pictures of my favorites. Yea I like all my shooters and shoot others more, BUT

The top one is a 1973 H&R Officer Model Springfield "Trapdoor" I have shot it in SASS Plainsman events many times, which consist of two cap and ball pistols SxS shotgun and a single shot rifle in rifle caliber using black powder. Rifle targets are mostly 16" square at 50-100 yards. This old girl has allowed me to win first a lot. I have shot at least 1500-2000 rounds of all types black and smokeless 300-500gr. and some that left me with a black and blue shoulder. I have also had many offers to buy her BUT no deal.

The bottom one is a 1871 .577 Snider Enfield Cavalry Carbine that Son sent back from Afghanistan

Some 500gr and an original cartridge pouch/holder of big bullet things.

This is Pretty Boy a1895 Marlin Century Limited that I bought new in 1995. I don't shoot it as much as my Marlin 1895 Cowboy since it doesn't have the cartridge capacity needed in SASS. But it does make big rocks into little ones.

Now we get to the long range of the Buffalo Killers. Where is that Aussie Guy that wants to shoot Abos :)
Since I was a Kid I always wanted a 1874 Sharps Sporting Rifle. I got mine before Quigley came out.
Mine is a Perdasolie model

Only have one .45-70.
My Dad bought it surplus in the late 1920s for $1.25.

Armybrat,
Very nice. It also looks like you have some 500 Gr. REAL OLD CENTRAL Fire cartridges. Yes that is what they were first called not Center Fire
One of the old timers in Richmond that owned Lanes Trading Post had a Trapdoor Rifle hanging on the wall. He told me that at the start of WWII a boxcar full of Trapdoors was left on a siding in town. They were being sold for $1.00 and he bought his that is on his wall. This story was told to me in 1995 and I'm sad to say he and the store are both gone.
I bought my Daughter a Colt USAAF 1911 Commemorative for her graduation present from the Air Force Academy and Mr. Lane accepted it for me.
