396 never had a fuelie set up, so you are correct. only small block chevys from 1957 thru 1965. had the old set up. the 396 was introduced in 1965. carb only. one year only in a 65 corvette. 66,67,68 and 69 was only 427. I know. I own one...a 1966, 427 390 HP. Mr Deerstalker
