Loved all his music, and he is credited with inventing 'click bass' to help it stand out. Yes, chester burton and both roys (smeck and clark) were right up there, too, and you cant ignore the capabilities of grady martin and glen campbell.

I aways thought that was Chet Atkins! And Roy Clark was no slouch, either!

Chet's style was both country and classic while Roy was basically pure country. Les Paul and Glenn Campbell were amazing as well. None of them were "rock guitar" pioneers like Duane Eddy. Just my opinion as a fellow rock guitar player from back in the day.

Good pickin is still good pickin. Add andres segovia , john williams, and julian bream.
