YUGO is coming back to America! (maybe)

You want one, buy a new one, dont trust previous owners to have strictly adhered to the same-size-tires thing.
This is true for any modern AWD car.
I find any system that can't tolerate a few percent difference in tire size to be absurdly worthless.
See above and don't buy a new AWD car ever regardless of manufacturer.

we had a safari van AWD viscous coupling to engage 4x4 . i quit plowing the drive unless it was over a foot deep pulled a friends small boat wit 2 canoes on top and 8 people with luggage home from canada. drove it 200,000 miles gave it away and that family drove it until someone demolished it. if they still made it but there are only 2 of us now. you want to take my crayons too

My dad ordered an AWD Astro Van in 1992 and waited six weeks for it to be built. He loved it enough to have the stretched chain in the transfer case replaced. But when he got a travel trailer he needed something with a V8.

All that being said, I am unsure what you point is. GM stopped making them 25-30 years ago and I said MODERN all wheel drive don't fair well with mismatched tires, including two new and two used of the same size and brand. Some people think all tires of the same size are the same size but they are not.
