My first handgun was a S&W model 19. Bought in 1974 and sorta still have it. My wife decided that was a perfect size for her to shoot so I get to clean and oil it for her. She does reload her own bullets though so life is great!
I've lost a couple of handguns that way. After years of berating my about my Glock 30 she glommed onto my 42 in a heartbeat. So, I just bought another.

My first was an 8 & 3/8 Model 27 Smith. Sold it after I bought my first Ruger in '80, a shiny new Redhawk. No longer needed the little "pea shooter"

All I know is that the guys here all wish they had their guns back that were stolen, which sucks. I feel bad for those guys, but to me, it just gives one the perfect excuse to try to get one like it. It may not be possible, but try to find something you like to try to make up for what you lost...

I still have my first handgun, a Ruger MK II, slabside. It is the one gun all my kids want when I keel over. They all learned to shoot a pistol with it, so it comes with lots of good memories. I have thought about buying a few more since I have four kids. Their second favorite is also a .22, a Smith and Wesson model 17.

That is a lot of rounds !! 👍
I used to go down to the slew below the house I lived in every day after work and shoot a box of 50. At one point I may have actually clened out all of the Nutria. That only last about two months and they were back. They are an invasive species here so------no limit.

I am glad you got it back. I hope someone kicked the no good piece of manure in the nuts as a reminder to leave his hands off of things.
Thanks WT. Not only stole My Grandfather's gift when Papa died in 1963, but also physically and mentally abused me and my mother. The stepfather died an early death at age 48 from throat cancer in 1978. The Kit gun then went into his brother's vault in High Point NC where it sat until 2000. The brother died that year and his wife notified my mother who demanded that gun be returned to me.
Happy ending. I never thought I would see that piece again.

My first was a Series 70 Government Model. Got it in 1973 as an award. Still have it; still shoot it.

My first handgun was a Star BKM. I bought it without checking it over. The previous owner did a kitchen table feeding ramp polish job and went overboard. When shot the fired brass looked pregnant. I sold it at a loss shortly after.
That's too bad about your BKM. It wasn't your fault. Even if you had checked it more, you still may have not noticed it. I would just call that experience a lesson in life......👍

First pistol I owned is a 1935 .22 Colt Police Positive Target that belonged to my grandfather, then inherited by my father and then inherited by me. Granddaddy made the box, shooting glasses and added the spacer to fit his hand better.
The first pistol I bought was an 1977 Interarms Virginia Dragoon .44 mag "Don't Tread on me" model bought for $200 from a friend in 1981 and came with soft case, extra pachmyar grips and a box of bullets. Still have them both.

Those Nutria get pretty big like the size of a fat cat, but it's a big rat, from what I hear. What was the biggest one you saw or shot ??
