Your favorite Ruger Semi-Automatic pistol

Help Support Ruger Forum:

It is hard to say. I presently own 3 Ruger semi-auto's. I really like my SR-1911 because it looks cool & is fun to shoot. I also really like my Max-9. There isn't really anything special about it but it is small, light, & easily concealable.

I have the SP101 in 3 inch and love it! I am a revolver guy at heart also and really enjoy the LCR. You couldn't go wrong with either of those.

P91DC. Very fun to shoot.

I bought a Ruger LCP (380) as a carry weapon. My reasons were: (1) Ruger reputation, (2) small and good size for carry, and (3) Cost was ok. I fired about 300 rounds and it never really worked correctly. The primary reason was the pistol would jam after one or two rounds. So I took it back to the gun shop where I bought it and asked if I could trade it in on a Ruger LCP II, which was supposed to be the answer to the LCP jamming. The gun shop was nice and I traded it for the II. GUESS WHAT? The RUGER LCP II jams just like the LCP! I am now looking for a new carry gun and hopefully can trade the LCP II on a new carry gun, which will definitely not be a RUGER LCP.

I was pondering exactly what the members favorite Ruger semi-auto pistol they own.
In the past the Ruger P97 & P93 were my favorites.. but over the years I ended up trading them off …
But as of now the Ruger Security 380 is my now favorite … easy shooting , easy to rack and very dependable..

My Ruger 2004 P89 9mm 👍👌 Still performs flawlessly after all of the years.

But your 380 looks great 👍

In the past two months I purchased a Ruger 9mm RXM and a couple years ago bought an SR22 .22LR in the long barrel version. Both are just outstanding guns and consider both as "keeping them forever" guns.

Yes my lcp2 is a jam machine Worst gun ever but I still keep it as a garage gun

I like most of my Rugers. The one exception being the recently purchased LCPII in 22LR. It mostly works ok, but jams up just often enough that I am not comfortable using it as a carry gun as I had hoped to do. I guess my favorite is my EDC, my LC9s. Absolutely reliable, acceptable recoil, accurate enough for me to rely upon for self defense.

I must be the luckiest LCP II .22LR owner in the world. It simply never jams, with one time due to my own stupidity- I loaded it with sub-sonics. Can't do that with this type of gun. I don't know what you are using, but try CCI mini-mags. May solve your problem.

My favorite is J.M. Browning's Colt Model of 1911.

I have owned a few but not currently. The closest is a Zastava Model 88 single action based upon the Tokarev of the mid 1930s which was based on the 1911.

Certainly, auto loading pistols have come a long way. If I were to purchase another now it would be the Smith & Wesson Model 39. That seems to be the only DA auto loader which fits my hand. Single stack magazine only. Although I can maintain good trigger contact with the Browning Hi Power.
