Purchased new in 09-2008. Never fired. Safe Queen all these years. All paperwork included.

Full size model with 5" match grade barrel and match grade barrel bushing. Can shoot .45 acp +P cartridges safely. Comes with 3-8 round magazines.

Specifically designed for the Los Angeles Police Departments SWAT. Chosen out of 5 different 1911 pistols tested by it's elite unit. The LAPD Spical Investigations Squad is a specialized plainclothes surveillance team. The most oblivious characteristic that differentiates this model from the rest of the Kimber line of 1911's is the cocking slide serrations cut in the shape of the actual SIS acronym.

Several features are specific to the SIS model. All of the sharp edges are melted into curved contours. The SIS slides into the waistband of your jeans without cutting into the top of your pants. The pistol also presents from a draw without snagging. A flat top sight plane is retained and the non glare surface keep light to a minimum.

Features include an ambidextrous extended thumb safety. Meprolight bright tritium sight inserts for superior low light visibility. Lightweight hammer, Beavertail grip safety, Extended magazine release, solid aluminum trigger with small take up breaks at 4lbs 5 ounces, lowered and flared ejection port, internal extractor, finely checkered front grip, tight slide to frame fit, wood grips w/ Kimber logo and forged frame. This is a true custom made 1911 that just has the "cool" factor!!

Discontinued by Kimber as of Jan.1 2010 for politically correct reason IMHO.

"News that a weapon is being marketed with an 'SIS' serration–a clear reference to the LAPD–was met with criticism from city and civil rights leaders. 'It is very disturbing,' said Councilman Jack Weiss. 'If any member of the public is shot with one of these guns or, heaven forbid, a cop is shot with one of these arts, what would be the explanation?'

You see, the guns weren't just named after SIS, LAPD's Special Investigation Section, they were designed by SIS members. Staffed by creme de la creme street-proven detectives with extra-intense training in armed police combat"

Good article on them here, https://www.tactical-life.com/gear/four-kimber-sis-45-acps/
