You got me, looks like the middle piece has a hook to catch a flange and the center post a plunger to push something through the ring part.

I guess eveled may be right. I found this on the net

ev' do you know for a fact it is? how do you use it? wouldnt it mussh it all up?

Dang I coulda been first if I was here earlier!. Cherry pitter. My Mom had one. One of those good ideas that just works ok. It works best on semi frozen cherries.

True story. My Dad ALWAYS got the pit in a piece of Mom's cherry pie. He would then proceed to spit it into her coffee. He was a pretty good shot too! All my childhood to young adult life Dad got the pit.

Always seemed strange until we got older and realized Dad ate most of the pie. 😆

I like frozen or semi frozen cherries and frozen seedless grapes both ..lol
