Did my Federal on the 24th. More of my social Security was taxed this time than last. Getting a refund anyway. If I had to pay, I would wait till the deadline.

I am a procrastinator in doing my taxes. I absolutely dread it. So roughly April 10th, I'll have an appointment. And in the meantime I'm still waiting for 1099's, etc.

And the thing is, once I get everything compiled, it's not a big deal, other than nearly always having to write the government a check.

listening to all the BS ways the Govn't is pissing away our money, I wanting on a couple of 1099s myself. The income from my business and investments is great and comes in handy for a lot of things as well as helping others. I'm just hoping I put back enough for Feds and State to cover what I'll have to pay. My apt. is the middle of February, I'm so excited I'm about to wet myself.

Contender & OrdGuy what is this REFUND you speak about, what are those ???

Tax filing ought not require a MBA from an Ivy League Universiy to do your taxes. However I'd rather loan the gubmint a couple of bucks to get back via a refund than have to write those son-of-a-guns a check for any more money. I'm stilll waiting on my order of the various form I will need from the IRS. Oh well..... I guess it is what it is. If I wasn't such a skinflint, there's always TurboTax.

Kir tagged it.

No refund for me... I'm never paid estimated taxes in 40 years of working for myself... but then I've hardly ever paid any Federal Income Tax... one of the perks of running your own business... never really made any money. Did pay into social security...

Run a business that part of its standard operating procedures are that all employees / workers must have a concealed weapons permit and have a certain amount of training in firearms every year as well as updated and improved 'equipment'. You know if you study how government works it can help.

Well, I gathered all my documents, ran the test that came with my W-2s and find I won't have to file again this year. Not enough income. Small blessing!
