With Bisley style grip frame

Great pics. And great story. I have an equally long winded reply with a bunch of pictures, but 2 things first. In the picture of you holding the new grip frame- is that your third finger or your index finger behind the trigger guard? Secondly- once you clarify I'll post up a bunch of pics of my hand on various grip frames. It seems like we might have similar hand sizes. I will have to post up later as I've got a lot going on this afternoon.
Ahh, now I see the tip of your finger. Ok. It started raining, so we decided not to take the dogs to the park or go for a Sunday drive. So I'm going to post up a bunch of pictures with me holding various grips. I will agree that sometimes I tend to "choke up" on my grips.

Same as above, after fitting. Grip panels are thinner so my finger placement changes.

So, a lot to digest there. The Bradshaw Bisley gives the most knuckle room, hands down. It is basically a normal Bisley, moved back 3/16". I also love the feel of the Dealer, and it maintains a somewhat original look.

The standard Bisley is a knuckle buster for me- not as bad as the square trigger guard on a Super, but it still tags me. The Bradshaw Bisley is a joy to shoot. The only reason I sold it was it was heavy and I have neck and shoulder issues and I was finding I need a lighter overall package. I can't remember if weight was an issue for you, although I doubt it weighs a whole lot more than the existing brass grip frame. Let me k ow if you have any questions.

Also, there's an 80som page thread on Singel Action ProBoards they has more info and pictures than you can imagine.

Back 20 years ago I started to cast up 275 & 300 gr for my Bisley 7.5". Bear and 500 lb pissed off 'gone-feral boar' can sometimes laugh-off 240gr hard cast , unless it's spit out by a 454. Got some knuckle and thumb joint bangers when at "serious carry" velocities. Experimented with stocks, and nobody made a WIDE (upper portion) grip to spread the recoil at the thumb. I found wide bases didn't do much for my thumb joint or knuckle. IMHO It's important to get the width IMMEDIATELY and not just an "over-all" width. For me, that spreads out the recoil push ASAP up top.

So, got some 1/16" hardwood laminate and made my own. Cost me $10 for a 4" x12". I found that a narrow upper portion of grip allowed too much entry into the palm-thumb joint, thus nailing my knuckle, and beating the heck out of my joint. There really isn't much inletting to do on the Bisley, so no worries on a DIY.
