We've been looking for a Ruger Single Action for the wife to carry when we hike. She tried my large frame Vaquero and my Bisley, but they were too heavy for her, and the recoil a bit much. I recently ran into a deal on a flattop Blackhawk in .44 Special. She finally got to shoot it this weekend on a camping trip.

Her comments? "I can shoot this one." It's light enough, and very pleasant to shoot. I even had a rig for it.

So here's my wife's new hiking gun.

She has great taste. My wife "claimed" my (Her :? ) new Flattop convertible after the first range session with it. She did however replace it with a large frame, blued Blackhawk. Happy wife, Happy life. I hope she enjoys it for years to come.
