Why i love the old p series rugers

The old P series guns are the most under-rated pistols ever, IMHO. I have owned many over the years, still have a P89 and P95, and I have never had one of any caliber jam. Not once. Ever. Very few pistols I can say that about. People say they feel like a brick, blah, blah blah. They are not a bit bigger than the H&Ks of the time, in fact, I would say they are smaller.

I'm confused by the title and post #1.......you have a P series Ruger in 22LR?

I waited almost 40yrs for my original P85. Long story I already shared in another thread. I love it. I could easily fall into collecting the P series as they are now starting to pop up in my local shops in good shape and $300/under. I will refrain myself. However, if a P90 pops up in good shape I'm pouncing on it!

Yeah I'm lost 🤷‍♂️

Well, lost or not, I'm gonna sing the praises of the P Series !!!

Got my first one about 25 years ago and I "regretted that decision" by buying another P Series, then another, then another, then another ...... you get the idea. A bazillion rounds later, the dependability continues, the huge smile continues.

And I haven't used a P Series at the local range since ...... last Monday !!!!!

.

He didn't say it was a .22 he said that it he got it for $200.00 PLUS 100 rounds of .22 ammo (cost 200 + the ammo).
MY P-95 isn't going anywhere any time soon, a much underrated pistol
The title has nothing to do with the thread then.......one would think with that title the thread would be about P series Rugers and not about "it" being another Ruger firearm......guess I'm just not as smart as some of you to read the OPs mind. You would think "it" would be a P series not a 22LR.

I just finished putting this kit together. Bought the pistol, then found everything else. P95 DC.

The first semi-auto I ever bought, around 30 years ago, was my P97dc, which I still own. At the time that I bought it, it was the least expensive 45acp in the gun store with a brand name that I recognized. Like many other folks here, I have more than one handgun readily accessible so that if trouble comes when I am in other than my bedroom, I have ready access to a gun with which to confront an intruder. My reliable (never a single FTE, FTF or any other failure) P97 serves me in this critical role. The fact that it has a polymer lower rather than being all steel bothers me not a whit. The only thing I ever changed on this gun is the sights.

I never owned a Ruger P series, they never appealed to me, never felt right, etc. I was a 1911 and Hi Power guy, and Glocks for many years. I see used P series guns for cheap, and spending time here has kindled my interest in most things Ruger. I'm selling off stuff now, and buying other stuff. and the last thing in the world I need now is another pistol in a different platform, yet... for some reason I've been thinking of getting a P85. What would the 'gateway' P series pistol be?
