While surfing (that word still being used?) I ran across a thread titled "what's new"...

Nothing I am writing about, but, I thought it was about the different clothes members wore everyday, or perhaps to a special function. For many years, I have had some black denim Wrangler jeans in my closet which I had outgrown as my last GF was a fantastic cook and I put on a lot of weight, but after we broke up, I lost of it and have been able to get into them again. This past winter, I decided to get a denim jean jacket to go with the jeans. Wrangler had a promotion for a rodeo one year, "Are you man enough to wear a Pink Shirt with your Wranglers?"
I have found that the ladies like pink or lavender shirts on a man. ...and no, I am not gay!
Last summer when I could afford it, I bought a pair of "Wellington" boots for dress up. My son called me old fashioned, but other then wearing a tie now and then while having to work in the office (20+ yrs. Army) he has not worn one/nor dressed up as he worked/works EOD. He likes blowing things up, like two junk cars a week while teaching classes. So I got to thinking about a new topic for a thread (as I usually do) and wondered what interesting/unusual things that some of the members wore. (Not counting Halloween!) 🤡👻☠️👽🎃

Working in the ER I wore scrubs. Since it was a pediatric ER my scrub tops were colorful and lots of cartoon characters. I used them as a distraction technique. You would be surprised how often finding Elmo worked with the children. Anyway, when I retired from the ER I had numerous scrubs and continue to wear them at home. They are slowly wearing out but I have received a few strange looks from folks when I greet them in scrubs with Captain America or Superman.

Just my usual red, white and blue Speedo. I am starting to have a problem with it. The Vaseline and shoehorn I need to put it on are starting to chafe.

(And when was the last time you saw a shoehorn for sale?):oops:

Denim jacket AND jeans? I think it was 1972....had green, and maroon.....tag probably said Toughskins...probably had on wallabee's...

High School Polo shirts with collars flipped up was all the rage for football/lacrosse players. Even on gameday....collars flipped up through jersey....pink? that was for the preppies...pink and other bright shirts, khakis, whale belts....the bright shirts made a fantastic target for a lax ball.

When TAD to EODMU3....it was The Lords Camo of course....woodland or white fire coveralls while on live terrain.

Thankfully I haven't had to wear suits or shirt and tie on the job for some time.....heck now it's a dept shirt, jeans and tac boots. Leisure time it's a t-shirt and depending on season either cut off sweats or cut off camo shorts.

This past weekend had the pleasure of meeting forum member F14Chief and his lovely Wife, Daughter #2 and Grand Daughter for dinner as they visited Gettysburg. I dressed up for them...blue Polo (no flipped up collar), cargo shorts and camo Hey Dudes ;)

TMI on the speedo. However, I bought a shoehorn at Walmart of all places. I think it was a couple of bucks. Next time I'm there I'll take a look see if there's anymore. I might even buy another. Don't have any idea about what to think on Walmart's Chinese shoes but I bought a pair of supposed walking shoes and the left one goes on easy but the right shoe? If it weren't for that shoe horn I'd have thrown that pair of shoes away.
As to wearing pink or lavender? Doesn't bother me one bit as I'm perfectly comfortable with who I am.

I have a pale pink golf shirt and I purposefully bought a pair of golf shorts that are a salmon color.

Denim jacket and jeans was also popular in the 1980's.

Pink clothes aren't as ghey as wearing a pair of Hey Dude shoes.

Maybe it's just me, but I really don't pay much mind to folks who care what I'm wearing. I was denied entry to a few hotel bar/resturants cause I wore sandals and shorts. I said...no problem - never staying at that hotel again.

I do like hawaiian shirts. Want to wear pink, I say go for it. If @GasGuzzler showed up in a new pair of Hey Dudes, I'd suspect they were comfortable. Point is, people giving into what people think way too often.

I love visiting Sam's Club or Costco when they have markdowns on their clothes.

Hey Dudes are the most comfortable summer shoes I've ever had. It's what all the cool kids are wearing today. My Son has several and gave me a pair. Fantastic for slipping on to take the dog out, take the trash out, get the mail or walking out on the hot deck to fire up the smoker. Going to order a pair of Woodland camo soon.

If it wasn't for my Son I would have never heard of them.

My kinda guy.

I've worn pink shirts for decades. They look great with a blue blazer or a charcoal grey suit. Nothing new there. During the disco era I had pink trousers with blue pinstripes.

Real men aren't afraid of a color.

Fun fact, pink was considered the boys color until the 1940s.

I have several pink or lavender shirts, and only once did a pink shirt cause a "problem". My wife and I were at a restaurant where apparently they catered to the lesbian community. My hair was fairly long at the time, and I was sitting with my back to where the waitress approached. As she neared our table she said "And what can I get for you ladies to start with?". I am sure that the pink shirt was part of why she thought I was a woman sitting there.

I retired 12 years ago when I turned 70. Other than a few weddings and a few funerals I have worn nothing but jeans or shorts and t-shirts or casual button shirts since retiring. I'm not sure if I could still even wear the one suit that I kept after retiring.

I have worn pink. It comes naturally from accidently getting something red in with the whites.
One's underwear no doubt. Been there, done that. Somehow it doesn't really matter anymore...

I did that in college. A new red sweatshirt wound up in my bag of dirty skivvies. I wore light red underwear for a month or so.

I don't do pink or lavender I am in shorts and a Hawaiian shirt in the summer winter it's boots and jeans and a nice plaid shirt or a lite jacket. I kinda a clothes whore .

My condolences.

I couldn't care less how comfortable they are, I ain't gettin' caught dead with them things on my feet. Did you wear Jellies in the '80's and Heelz in the 2000's? :ROFLMAO:

I don't know what those are? Most of the 80's I was either in flight deck boots or jungle boots courtesy of Uncle Sam.

What did you wear in the 80's? whatever was handed down in the trailer park?
