I need another browser. I use TOR for work but it is un-necessary for simple surfing, etc. And I DONT want a browser set-up that erases my passwords and logins!!!

What say ye (those who have never tried more than one need not opine). ;)

I haven't tried any others recently, but I switched to Firefox about 5 years ago and have seen no reason to change. I use the add-ons "Ghostery" and "Ad Block Plus". At each website where you have to log in, it will ask you if you want Firefox to save your login or not.

ALL of them will do that . . . or not . . . depending on how you set them up.

I started with IE (now usually known as Internet Exploder) and found it to
be less than optimal, for me. I then went to Netscape, which has morphed
into Firefox.

Firefox can be as simple as you like, or fairly complex if you set it up that
way. You can set it up to save everything, or nothing. I believe that most
of us like having specific items saved, and needless information deleted.
YOU decide what YOU want, and configure it the way YOU want it.

Are there others that are usable? Absolutely. For me, I do my best to
stay away from those browsers that save unnecessary data (winderz)
and Google based browsers (Chrome) are a cut equal to winderz.

One other thing to look at is if you can accept cookies, and only save the
ones you want/need. Firefox meets that need. There are doubtless others
that perform the same function.

Like trying to decide which manufacturer has the "best" .22lr pistol, or
which caliber is best for self defense, YOUR opinion is the one that is
most important, for you.

I like Firefox. :D

Hi,

As far as I know, Firefox is simply the latest iteration of what we first knew as Netscape 20 or so yrs ago. Seems it disappeared for a while, resurfaced under AOL for a bit, went on walkabout, then came home to settle in with Mozilla. Is it perfect? No. But compared to anything that's ever escaped the fog in Redmond to plague our computers, it's great!

I have used Firefox for years.
A few months ago they put out an idiotic new version that is horrible.
I downloaded it because it has always been good.
I went back and d/loaded the previous version, clicked on "do not notify me of updates"
and so I am still very happy.
I am not a computer expert but I play one on the internet........ :p

I use a variety depending on device. On my phone I use chrome and ghostery browsers. Ghostery browser blocks a lot of popups but it keeps me logged in unless I clear all history.

Huh. Mozilla is just getting so slow, and "not responding" messages several times a day.

Hi,

Do you keep the cache cleaned out regularly?

Click the little three bar menu icon at the top right of the screen, click "Options", click "Privacy and Security", go down to "Cached web content" and click "Clear Now." While there, it will ask you how many MB you want to use for your cache, so make sure it says 1024. It will allow you to type in more, but then cuts it automatically to that 1 GB. I find some sites don't cache much, others are horrid about it. This procedure done once or twice a week might help speed things up on your machine. Works like a charm on mine...

You can also have it clear the cache each time you exit.
I've been using that for several years.

Hi,

Yes, that works, too. Only problem is I rarely exit Firefox! ;)

Google Chrome without a doubt.
Blackie

Google is watching everything you do - EVERYTHING!

There's nothing I do on line that I need to be embarrassed by, but I figure what I do is nobody's business just the same.

You mean you never shut your computer off?

Hi,

Very seldom does it go for a full shutoff. It "sleeps" a lot, so if it worked when it went to sleep, it generally works when I wake it up. With Win10 (factory installation, not upgraded from a previous version), I'm never sure what's gonna happen with a cold boot. Even a warm boot (restart) frequently produces interesting results. Bill Gates claims he owns my OS--what would it take to get him to come and get it out of my machine? ;)
