maybe im being a little slow but i just got the ruger catalog the other day and i have a 4 5/8 convertable .45 on order (yes another one) and the catalog shows a 4 5/8 .45 blackhawk at 36oz and the .45 4 5/8 convertable blackhawk at 42oz

it also says the convertable has 8 groves to the barrel and the standard has 6 grooves? i think this is a missprint. but its the same on the web as in the papper catalog.

wonder if they are weighing the extra cylinder in?

My new Ruger Bisley Convertible (.45 Colt/.45 ACP) SS has a steel grip frame (like all of the stainless Blackhawks). The blued Blackhawk typically has an aluminum grip frame. There are several ounces difference in "essentially" the same gun.

I prefer the steel grips. They wear better with heavy use. They are heavier - that is a plus for heavy recoiling loads especially in a revolver shot a lot. For a gun that is "carried a LOT and shot a LITTLE" there are those that prefer aluminum grips because of the lighter weight. It is simply a matter of preference.
