My latest half assed attempt with cheap vinyl. It's definitely not as good to work with as the stuff made for guns. When I redo it it will be with a gun wrap kit.

I go with a tree bark pattern on guns I will be stand hunting in the woods with. The gun looks like a window through me breaking up my outline.

My first thought is a pin hole develops, moisture gets in, rust is forming, and you can't see it.

My experience is that if properly worked out without air bubbles it's pretty much air tight. I've had the decals on my motorcycle for years now. They've seen every kind of abuse and a year parked outside. Pretty sure if I peeled them off there would be pristine paint underneath. My guns live a far gentler life. When not in use or stored in dark dry places around the house they live in a highly desiccated safe. Besides an honest field gun should have a little patina anyway.
