If this is the big box sporting goods store that I think it is they have now "excluded firearms" from purchase with store "bucks", after having merged with the other bigger box store (now parent company). You may want to check and see.
If they give the OK then I say "go for it"! You use their card to earn a reward. Reward yourself!

If you're thinking of Cabela's, they still let me use the bucks to make the purchase. Their merger with BPS didn't change it.

I didn't realize this was an older post when reading.
I was going to agree with Dave P on the economics of the argument
but say that it would be my tendency to go for the gun.
Good choice and one heck of a set up!
Let us know how you like that one. I picked up a used Security 9
recently. I haven't gotten to the range with it yet and I 've read
several mixed reviews before I bought it but it was a good deal
and I just went for it.

I only buy local and I have stores to choose from with 15 miles of my house. That gives me some negotiating power. I only buy local because Ii have this thing about wanting to see and check out the gun before buying it. Add to that transfer fees are generally included in the prices around here. So buying and having a gun shipped to an FFL will add $25 to $50 depending on the store.
