What type of cookware do you use?

Help Support Ruger Forum:

Last year we purchased a HexClad 8qt Saucepan when the non-stick coating started flaking off on whatever we had before. It took a little bit of getting used to because they do cook a lot hotter than normal pans. It has been so good though that I just ordered all new HexClad through Amazon (they are all on sale as part of their big deal days).

Mostly iron either Griswald, Lodge, Le Cruset with enamel coating for saucy stuff. Some stainless steel pots and one carbon steel skillet from my old restaurant which I cherish. Nothing like carbon steel "French" pans.

Do bread pans count as cookware? I have a couple stoneware bread pans from Lehman's. Also only use stone pizza trays, though I use them more for other things than for pizza.
I have two lodge loaf pans that are perfect for meatloaf.
Also an assortment of lodge and Griswold dutch and camp ovens, one really large one for a big batch of chili or curry lamb when I'm in the mood to do some canning.
Hmmm, maybe I need to downsize.

I do 98% of the shopping and cooking at our house, the wife is good at a lot of things, but never learned to cook! When we got married, I bought a brand new full set of stainless Revere Ware pots, just like my mom used to use, when she passed, I think my SIL (a pretty fair cook) grabbed all of those... I don't even know if they make Revere Ware anymore as I see them on action sites asking high $$$...
For most all frying pan cooking, I use several old cast iron fry pans---one I got from my mom, the others at yard sales for next to nothing... Take care of your cast iron fry pans, and they'll last several lifetimes...! I don't even know what brands the are...
I also have a Traeger pellet smoker a good friend gave me when he upgraded to a newer fancy one. Works perfect and makes great tri-tip smoked roasts! And, of course, and old Webber charcoal BBQ grill for all the usual BBQ stuff...

We have 3 sizes of cast iron skillets but only one is "vintage", a Wagner 10". Other stuff we use includes a set of Emeril (BAM!) cookware that my wife got before we were married, and some copper clad stainless stuff that I had.

Our first piece of Le Creuset (the big Dutch oven) is in transit, should be here Tue. She has wanted one for a while and is finally getting it for her birthday later this month.

When I told her about once buying my ex-girlfriend a stove for Christmas, and how my ex did not react favorably to that in spite of the old stove having two inoperable burners, she said that was because a stove is not romantic and reinforces the misogynistic old trope that a woman's place is in the kitchen. Then she told me to never get her kitchen stuff for a gift. But then this year, she went and gave me a fancy coffee grinder for my birthday. Shots fired. We'll see how the Dutch oven goes over in a couple weeks.
