I picked this up years ago and have never seen one quite like it.
Model 77, tang safety, round top action. 24" medium weight barrel (.615 at the muzzle) with the barrel drilled and tapped 5" forward of the action. I have always assumed these were for a scope block. To me, the odd thing is the chambering,
257 Roberts. Serial number 70-xxxxx
When I found this , I was looking for a 25-06 but the Roberts some beautiful wood and a superb trigger.
Thanks for any info anyone can supply.

It is probably an M77ST since it has the round top receiver. There was a short run of M77ST in .257 produced with sights shortly after the round top M77's were introduced.
There is also an M77PL round top receiver without sights that is pretty rare.

Wonder if my friends was aM77PL His also in .257 without sights. I believe it could have been a 20 inch barrel but not positive.

Scarce gun I.M.O. The M77RT with sights in .257 is the one that always seems to pop up.
