What is your favorite .45 Colt Load

Been out of the loop for awhile so....

A decade ago my favorites in my .45 Blackhawk were:

Green Dot for std vel 250 gr cast
W296 for full boogie Linebaugh style with heavier bullets.
SR 4759 for everything else in the 900 - 1,200 fps range cast bullets

I've shot plenty of .44 mag rivals in my .45 but have decided I like the 275-325 gr hard cast at 900-1,100 fps range. I'm not into self abuse with my favorite handgun caliber...

PS My 4759 is nearly gone and hard to find...

9.8gr of LongShot. Lee 255gr RFN or;
270gr RCBS SAA mold. Mine casts to 275gr.
Runs about 980fps.
My .45lc is a S&W 625 Mountain Gun. This charge is sufficient to obturate Starline brass preventing blow-by of powder and lube. According to Brian Pierce, you can go as high as 11.2, but that really kicks, and seems a little over-the-top for my uses.

4.0 Clays under a Lee (H&G style) 200gr SWC IS VERY accurate and mild!
I tumble lube and load as cast in my revolver. For a M1911 .45acp, I size to .452". (Use Magtech CBC brass... thinnest).

Hodgdon Universal is a near-direct substitute for Unique. Plenty of threads on its use in .45 Colt if you search.

Fill the case a little past the bottom of the 250 gr. lead bullet and compress with 3F Goex. The way it was meant to be Or if you don't want the smoke to get in your eyes. Try 4.5 Gr of 700X and a 200 gr .lead bullet

Any suggestions for 265gr cast in low pressure (14,000psi), medium pressure (for S&W 25-5), and for higher pressure ("Ruger-only" loads)? I've struggled to find much and only have a couple loads compliments of the guys at Cast Performance.

Lately I've been messing with Clean Shot under a Berry's 230 gr plated RN with reasonably good results. Ive also had decent results with Red Dot and coated cast bullets, and with W231 with JHPs.

My S&W 625-6 (45 Colt) Mountain Gun 4" bbl,
is good with;
45Colt. 250gr Lead/Red Dot 6.0grs (816fps).
45Colt. 270gr Lead/Longshot 9.5grs (950fps),
(mold RCBS 270 SAA).

Both within application pressures.

Some hot .45 Colt loads that I've tried and really liked:
· 255 grain cast bullet & 16.5 grains of Blue Dot
· 255 grain cast bullet & 12.2 grains of Herco

These loads appear to be safe in my Ruger Bisley, but use at your own risk.

My favorite .45 Colt load is a 230 grain cast bullet with 7.5 grains of Red Dot or Promo. I haven't tried it with a 250 or 255 bullet yet.

Speer 9 shows Ruger load max BD 14.8gr. under 250gr SWC for +1,200fps. (25Kpsi). 16.5gr of BD has to be over 35K psi. Personally 14gr. of BD is one of the most accurate loads in my .45 Colt Super BH around 1,100fps.

My accurate load , scoped 7.5" Stainless BH , I'd AA#9. Powder. 250 XTP. 20? 21? Grains. WLP primer. It's my favorite deer hunting load. And I practice out to 100 yards. Shoots great!!

Lately I have been loading a 250 grain fnfp that is powder coated that I get from Gallant bullets out of Utah.
I use 6.5-7.0 of titegroup and it shoots well @850 fps.
I have about 6# of power pistol that I'm going to start using at a slightly higher velocity, with that I will vary from about 8 grains up to around 10 grains.
I know you are not wanting data for ++p stuff but if you do I've done some serious playing around with 310 grain Wfn power coated bullets in a Redhawk that is not for the timid.
