a couple of English side by side rifles, a long time ago a guy used to be at a gun range I went to and he had 5 or 6 old pre ww2 side by side rifles that he let me shoot, don't remember all the calibers but .450, .470, .416
Elmer Keith favored 5" revolvers for the reasons stated,so on his advice I bought a Colt Anaconda 44 Mag with 5" barrel for $444.The Florida Highway Patrol favored five inch revolvers for many years (likely for the exact reasons you mentioned), but I think those were .357 Magnums. They also required factory nickel plating; some of their contracts therefore ended up being 'special order' items, because the revolvers purchased didn't normally come with five inch barrels, or didn't normally come with factory nickel plating. In that latter category are 20+ FHP factory nickel S&W Model 28s (which are apparently one of those "unicorns" that some collectors look for)!
...I put it on GunBroker and it sold for $5982...
the guy that bought it called me when the auction ended,he was very happy, and a little drunk!
Yes he paid, and added $$$ for $6K insurance!Did he actually pay? I've seen more than a few high bidders on GunBroker who changed their minds (& it's becoming a lot more common, because the web site doesn't automatically ban them anymore).
