Ruger currently lists only the .44 SBH Hunter in center fire but they've made runs of .41 and .45 Colt. Given the .45 Colt is as popular as it is today I'd expect them to be fairly available. I looked for one in .45 for a long time till I found one.

I don't believe they have produced any yet , they do make a SBH with 6.5" barrel . I think the rib on top the hunter barrel would help with recoil . I almost bought the 6.5" but I did not want to risk any injuries , I like rubber grips on the big revolvers easy for recoil and control . I have three hunters already , and would buy a casull if they made one .

I really like the casull , but only in the right platform .
I also like the idea of the 45 lc that would be neat as well .
For a reloader the 45 is popular

The 45c in a Hunter can be loaded to 30k psi. I would be happy hunting anything in North America with that. I've only used mine for Alabama whitetail. Of the few I have killed with it, I've never recovered a bullet. Bullet of choice is a home cast 270 grain SWC. All kills have dropped within a few yards with a good blood trail.

I wonder what's involved in making a few special runs a year of less used calibers, or "not in style" calibers? Unless I'm wrong, it's cut cylinders and barrels then assemble and fit.

There were also 22LR/22Mag and 17HMR Hunters on the Single Six platform. I've been eyeing a couple at auction right now…
I have the 22 lr / 22 mag hunter. And it is a dandy little gun . I was not aware they offered it in 17 HMR . That definately is going on my gotta have it right now list . And then you all are throwing a 357 in the mix .
Hanging out with you boys is expensive .

An ANIB .17hmr just went for $1,725 on GB. The two on RIAC just went for $2k.

If I remember correctly mine was just under $ 800 , when I purchased mine brand new . Those are stupid prices , I'll wait
For sanity to come back to town , those are losing numbers , Thinckley thanks for the info ...

Back to the original thread topic, namely the centerfire Hunters. How are the .44 SBH Hunters to shoot? Does the extra weight of the rib help with recoil? I originally came here because of the rimfires, but now I am looking at the centerfires.
