Help Support Ruger Forum:

Since I have always loved music the greatest advance in music was the Internet. With the Internet I can now listen to any type of music instantly and listen to music from all over the world. Those that do not listen to foreign music are missing out on 90% of the new Music out there these days.

If you like Rock Music, every country in the world has Rock Music and limiting yourself just to just U.S. Music cuts out again 90% of what is out there today.

The version of Roll over Beethoven I grew up with. Still one of my all time favs. Just went to their live concert in Denver, it was awesome even if the Jeff Lynne is now 76!

I prefer to listen to good music without the pyrotecnics and the jumping around of what some people call dancing.

Haven't heard any ELO in years! That is definitely the best version. When I'm feeling nostalgic, "Can't get it out of my head" takes me back.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the original singing dancer ... Elvis.

I really don't keep up with Taylor Swift but from what I've garnered she is a white Tina Turner.
Taylor Swift does not compare to Tine Turner, Aretha, Shirley Bassey, Karen Carpenter or any of the earlier generation of singers....she is auto-tuned, and can't hold her notes like the classic singers.....

You are all out of touch. Beyoncé is the queen for me. Ever since she released her last country inspired album with her sitting backwards on a horse I was hooked.
Hold on a second, where are my meds?

Hot punk, cool funk, even if its old junk, its still rock n roll to me

I tried to have an intelligent conversation with my father in law about this. After Thanksgiving dinner last year. He has been a music fan his entire life. Huge Beatle nut.

He thinks Taylor Swift is the most talented person who has ever been in the music industry.

I was asking and trying to understand how she makes so much more money than people with more talent than her.

You would have thought I spit on his mother's grave.

I will admit her live concert I watched with my wife was amazing! Not because of her singing but the quality of the presentation. Every song was an entirely different experience. We used to call them skits.

Alison Kraus is someone who hit the music scene very young and has way more talent than TS but doesn't enjoy the same success.

She is either a brilliant business woman or someone close to her is. Phenomenal marketing for sure. She definitely has talent. But her talent to sucess ratio is out of wack.

I also give her credit for staying healthy, and staying out of trouble. Not many young celebrities do either.

Elvis was not a dancer, he was a Twerker...

Why bring up what color someone is? There are other descriptions one could use and besides the only people I know who are white, are Frosty and Powder!

Orbison was good. Pitney was better. And no male or female top Patsy. Though Loretta comes close.

And Bosephus is a poor relation of Hank.
Bocephus did tolerably well immitating his daddy, which he did rather well, but it chafed on him that people thought that was all he was good for, so like sammy, "i gotta be me" davis jr, and frankie "i did it my way" sinatra, he decided to follow the philosophy expressed by fleetwood mac, "go your own way" and he never looked back. Getting drunk and falling off ajax peak (tho for years, i kept hearing it was mt hood) was a real game changer. Some people reject him because he ruint his daddy's rep, but his daddy made plenty enemies when he was alive by upsetting contemporary conventions.
Its a fam'ly t'r'dition.

Now I'm confused. I grew up with "Hey Good Lookin' & I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry". Was this the original Hank Williams? I know nothing about any juniors? Was there a Grandfather Hank Williams?

The songs you mentioned were indeed done by Hank Williams! Hank Williams had a son in 1949… Hank Williams Junior.
Junior became famous doing his dad's songs but finally made some hits of his own in the 80's. He is still touring at 75. He has always had a bad boy reputation that was earned. If you are into Rugers most collectors know of his Ruger collection and know a Hank Williams Junior Ruger to bring a premium.
