What happened to the Ruger American Rimfire

I posted earlier that I work at a gun shop, and we checked all our distributors, and every one of them was out of stock. Hence my initial question. Maybe the entire current production run is already allocated to FoNRA. Just seems odd that these are in short supply.

It is a fine rifle. When I put this 2x7 Leupold rimfire scope on mine and was sighting it in, I could repeatedly put all ten rounds on target that you could cover with a dime. That was only at 50 feet with federal bulk pack ammo. I am nowhere near being a good marksman.

I bought a 22 and a 22mag when they came out 2012 if I remember correctly. The 22lr is the brownish

colored one . It's got black speckled in it ,only one I have ever seen . I have looked for the same color since then in 22 mag never saw one . Were there any made .....?

No,, I do not think the entire production is just for the FoNRA. It's actually very possible that they are not making any at the moment. They do NOT have a dedicated manufacturing line to handle ALL of their models all the time. They build a batch,, re-set the line & make a different model. It MIGHT be that they haven't made any lately & they are awaiting enough orders to re-set a line to make the next batch.

And apparently,, by some of the posts above,, there are some of them available in other places.

Also,, smaller gun shops OFTEN can not get their distributors to sell them a hot item. The distributor salesmen will take care of bigger clients first. Throw in an "allocation" of a number of guns for a distributor,, and it can be very frustrating to try & get a specific model that's in higher demand.
