At an auction today, I picked up two lower assemblies for Ruger auto pistols--no barrel or receiver, but with bolts. I won't tell what I paid, as most wouldn't believe me and the rest would turn me in for robbery. I need to find out what model they are. I think one is a Standard. It has black plastic grips, silver eagle on the right, no bolt hold-open. The other is a Mk I or Mk II, with walnut target grips. It has a bolt release, and a large rectangular notch on the bottom of the bolt.

I know, pictures!!! but I have never been able to get a picture to print from photobucket in larger than thumnail. I'd appreciate advice.

sounds like the one with the bolt ,hold open lever is the Mk II, the other one is a standard auto OR a MK I, could be either as the sights on the receiver would determine the model, not the grip frame, they are the same.....now is the hole pattern for the grip panels, the SAME on both frames?? if so, the MKI /st'd auto would be an A-100, the later version of the frames for those guns, if the hole pattern is different, the left panel having the grip screw LOWER, than the right side, then it would be the early A-54 frame...in either case, good stuff to have, as well as having the bolts...good stuff to keep on hand, can use for a variety of uppers, any of the Ruger, the Pac Lites, even AMT's will work..........you did not say if the magazines were included, or if any and all the internal parts are with these, that would be icing on the cake.....

Drats,, some guys have all the luck. I need to find a cheap MKII or MKIII lower, and you find TWO of them. Ifn't ya decide to part with the MKII lower,, think of me,,,!

Let's see if this works.

Fixed it for you

The bolt with the Mark II frame (with the thumb rest target grips) is a Mark I generation bolt which is why it has the notch cut out of it. That notch is for the hook end of the thumb safety on a Early Mark I or Standard Model to lock the bolt open. If the other frame doesn't have one of these notches on the underside than the bolts should be swapped between the two frames. It also looks to me that the top bolt is missing the firing pin stop pin, as I can see a hole there in the middle of the bolt where the pin should appear. You do not want to use that one without the stop pin or damage will occur to any barrel by the firing pin hitting it by dry firing the pistol.

Interesting that the only parts missing are the serialized barrel/receivers. Hopefully these components weren't removed to conceal the original source of these pistols.

Thanks for the tip about the bolts. The stop pin is missing; I probably have the stock to make a replacement. These came from the living estate sale of a former gunshop operator. They may be leftovers from "destroyed" pistols.

matter of timing, right place at the right time...............

came out of a "destroyed" 2 digit red eagle a few years ago....our 'tax dollars' at work :x

use drill rod or some such for a replacement "pin" ,not a roll pin.............

Rugerguy!!! That early bolt with an unbroken firing pin is very hard to find.   Thanks again for the info on finding a gunsmith that could make one, I mean two :p for me.

Hi guys I'm also looking for a new firing pin for a standard SN2083. I bought it for 150 and the firing pin was already broken.

Was it true that you could send it back to Ruger and they would replace the bolt with an updated design?

Just saw a post about RENE and will be signing up soon.

all depends on just what bolt you have in that gun is it the early "unsupported" bolt, or the later one, and the pins are available for those, the first ones have to be hand made for each bolt. or they can and will just break again........

I have ONE of the early bolts left. This is the bolt that uses the current recoil spring assembly, as used in all the current Ruger Mark pistols. It looks like the bolt in the top picture.

I also have a couple of safeties for the early guns also. If anyone is interested, you can email me at [email protected].

If any of you guys have a spare bolt assembly that is correct for my "Red-Eagle" # 75xx (type 3 I believe) I'm in the market. Mine is complete, but has some cosmetic damage and I would like to replace it with a better example. let me know what you have. Thanks.
Just B.S.
