I also remember the episode where Jed & I think Jethro & maybe Ellie Mae too? are on the front porch, sitting in rocking chairs, shooting towards the street which is quite dome distance away. Miss Jane (or maybe it was Mr. Drysdale) come outside from being in the Clampett mansion (or maybe from next door?) to see what the gunfire is all about. Jed says 'oh, we're just target practicin' " or words to that effect. When asked what he's shooting at, he says "the flies out yonder on the cement wall" or something similar, meaning the wall out by the street that surrounds the mansion. I can't find that episode in all of my online searches & it's been probably 25 years or so since I saw it so I'm probably mis-remembering all of the details, but I sure got a kick out of it that the story writers came up with idea that Jed could hit a fly at that distance with an old lever gun & target practice from the front porch in Beverly Hills would be a thing he'd do.
