A couple of months ago I had Volquartsen install a trigger kit in my 22/45 Love it....great improvement.
Fast forward to today when I decided to clean it and can't push the button that connects the upper to the lower. When I got the lower back it snapped shut like it always had but for some reason no matter how hard I try I can't get it to budge. I even put a small wood dowel up against it and gave it a few taps with a small hammer.

They seem like a good outfit so I'm pretty sure they'll fix it but I'll need to send them the whole gun.

Crap....just crap......

Wonder how many times this has happened. Just curious. I HAVE NOT READ A LOT ON THE Mark IV till recently when I purchased mine 4 days ago.

I have no idea but I'm pretty sure the problem lies with the Volquertson parts and not Ruger.
I'm not worried though as most of the big parts/firearms company's stand by their products pretty well.
At least I know Ruger does because they surprised me with the best CS in my life when I broke the stock on a seven year old Red Label (100% my fault and I told them so) and they replaced it with no charge.
It's just the hassle of shipping firearms that I don't like but I'll get over it.

Call or Email VQ, they may have a solution they can provide over the phone, or via email?

Did you have the action cocked and the safety ON? You must have the safety on to push the take-down button.

I was just getting ready to call Volquertson.....glad I read this first.....problem solved....thanks man.
I guess I just got lucky the first couple of times I opened it.

"Call Volquartsen. You may only have to sent the lower in. Then since no serial number you can mail it much cheaper. By the way both companies do have great customer service."

Ahhhhh......if I could seperate the upper and lower I wouldn't need to send it in.....now would I? :)
Sorry man....you led with your chin. :)

Another example of "new and improved" that isn't.

Like all of the "improvements" to MK series since the MK I, they have bee neither necessary or an improvement.

Oh...I don't know about that....I like the easy take down for cleaning idea.....it's not Rugers fault men don't read
directions or manuals.

Couldn't agree more with the above statement! Been working with and on the Ruger Mark pistols since 1971. Except for the Ruger Mark III, the company has listened to all the more "intuitive" Ruger Mark owners concerning many worthwhile improvements. Last round hold open is nice, as is the new style magazine release that was introduced with the 22/45 version in its initial offering.
Obviously, some of the other additions to the Ruger Mark III were inflicted on Ruger Mark buyers by the "politicos" on the left coast who felt the need to keep us all safe from ourselves and one another. Makes me chuckle when I see the good 'ol American ingenuity that was involved with thwarting some of those hindering factors on the Mark III guns that those who want to do things "their way", can do with the Mark III's, and now the Mark IV pistols.

So, to write that "all" of the improvements to the Mark pistols since the inception of the Ruger Mark I have not provided improvement, is just not honest.
