Weatherized Gunsite Scout?

I was in my LGS and saw what at first I thought was a stainless GSR.... turns out it had some sort of weatherization coating/paint whatever. The salesguy said it was straight from the Ruger factory, but I haven't been able to find ANY information that they are producing a weather coated version.

Can anyone confirm this?


Any idea what's going on? Maybe a dealer exclusive or something?

There's a stainless version on the Ruger website right now. It's a standard, catalogued item, new for 2013. Before this year some were made too, mostly for export to Australia, if my memory is correct, but I also saw a few stainless models with a wood stock (not laminate) for sale on the Cabelas gun library site last year.
