We get some big spiders here in the northeast too. I found this one a couple years back, a large wolf spider that was hanging out in the back yard. I leave them alone because they kill brown recluse spiders.

Here it is in the mason jar, yep, that's how long it was.

My son found this Orb weaving spider near the garden a couple of years ago.

.357 mag bird shot rounds come to mind...I have seen big wolf spiders like that, they don't bother you (me) but fugly things.
