While that statement is not without some merit. It is very misleading. With over 20,000 prior hand written manuscripts dating back to as early as the first century for the NT and 3 centuries BC for the OT, it is provable that the Bible has remained faithful to what was written earlier. In the unlikely event that you want the truth, here's a good video on the subject.

BTW, I find it telling, and fascinating, how people want to disprove the Bible, Jesus and God. If it's really just a fairytail, why not just let it go.

If you mean me by "people wanting to disprove the Bible", you are wrong. I'm just wanting to strengthen what I believe in by getting some answers to things I've been pondering about.

If one believes in God, how could one not believe in the virgin birth? Do you honestly think that is one thing that God could not figure out how to do? You either believe in all of it or nothing at all.

It's kind of like the Constitution and bill of rights. One either believes in all of it or none of it. One can't just pick out what he likes to believe in.

Don't you find it funny that all the non beliefs come from human beings. Is that to say they are smarter and know better than God?

The King James Bible is written on a 7 grade level, so I am sure that it was intended by God for people like me to use.

Your mileage may very. :)
Remember, the Bible, especially the Old Testament, was written for an illiterate, nomadic group of sheepherder's for the most part. Like talking to a child! And is was written by MEN, even if divinely inspired. Later editions were either edited/censored by priests or others with agendas.

We now know that Kosher dietary laws have a health basis, and "coveting" your neighbor's wife prevents strife withing the small communities. And, according to a Jewish scholar friend, "Thou shalt not kill" is mistranslated; it should be "Thou Shalt not MURDER". All religions are colored and filtered by men, whether prophets, ministers, or priests. That is why I choose to look at the basic teachings of each religion and find the underlying similarities.

Rant off!!!‼️‼️‼️

I forgot that I was required to take a course entitled (Critical Analysis of the Bible" in college at a Southern Baptist College before I could matriculate. I expected it to be a brainwashing but it was quite enlightening. Most (almost all) of what we are taught was decided by MEN at the Council of Nicaea about 300 years AFTER the Crucifixion. We compared the Catholic Bible (including the Apocrypha) with the King James' version (which had its own agenda) and looked at Revelation (NOT Revelations, BTW!) from a chronological and political frame of reference. Even a PhD of Theology and a Southern Baptist minister who was teaching the course said it was an allegorical "pep-talk" to the Jews under Nero and that "666" was Nero's name in Jewish numerology.

BTW: References to Luke forget that he came along after the crucifixion. You might want to read "Dear and Glorious Physician", a biography of Luke.

I listen to this Gentleman and after a 100 years it's still relevant for today.

No, Sir. If you were, I would not be here. I, along with those who were saved during the Church Age, will be gone from earth to be in Heaven. Then come the seven years Tribulation.

Sorry, BUT the Death of Christ upon the cross ENDED the Jewish religion; They had strayed FAR from the Commandments of the Lord.
Tell that to the Palestinians. Two thousand years later, they are still trying to get rid of them, something the Nazi's couldn't do.

Yes, I have friends who are Jewish, also Muslim, Buddhist, and Atheists. None of these do I refer to as "Brother."

And, though He was a Jew by birth, he never practiced any of the sacrifices nor offered before the priests.

One of the Catholic mysteries is the Presentation of our Lord according to the laws of Moses. The next Joyful mystery is The Finding in the temple, after being missing for days they find an adolescent Jesus in the temple. Its says they were amazed at his knowledge.

I guess I always assumed he was a practicing Jew.

I have always felt sorry for Jews they are patiently waiting for something that already happened. Surely God appreciates their devotion.

My concern has always been if I am right or wrong, I try not to pass judgment on others.

"Keep in mind that the King James version of the Bible was 'rewritten' to suit the king's agenda."

I think there is much truth in that comment. I'm no bible scholar by any means but I have heard the King James did change things to suit hit, one of which is in the Ten Commandments. The King changed, "Thou shalt not do murder" to, "Thou shalt not kill." Big difference between murder and killing some one. Self defense or war for some examples. There are other possible changes he made besides the one mentioned and I know of potentially one other although when I heard about it it was rather tongue in cheek.

I had a bible that had 4 versions printed side by side. It was fascinating to be able to see the different translations all at once and the subtle differences.

I was taught that all men are brothers. Perhaps my Catholic school teachings were incorrect.

So you have no Jewish friends? Remember that Jesus was a Jew.

Bob...Jesus was a practicing Jew. He adhered to the Jewish Law while he was here on earth. He participated in the Jewish traditions such as going to synagogue and Temple as well as participating in Passover etc. As he lived among us here on earth he lived as a Jew, one of God's chosen people. Did he break with the Pharisaic interpretation of the Law at times? (Healing on the Sabbath etc.) Certainly. He was revealing that there was a greater way, a different way, a New Covenant about to be revealed in order to to enter the Kingdom of God. And that was him... faith in him, believing in him and what he preached about the Kingdom and above all grace given to humanity by God. Unmerited grace in believing and in faith that in Jesus Christ and his atonement on the cross (the cross as he was the ultimate sacrifice for all people) for all people who believed. God came to us in Jesus to offer himself as as one of us to redeem us from our sinful nature... And guess what... This is the only way to salvation: Not my words but Christ's words. Believing that God in Jesus Christ is the final atonement for humanity's initiate sin , seen on the cross, is the faith we Christians live in. And this Christian faith did not come to be until after the resurrection of our Lord Jesus.

So, to the OP.. Jesus was fully man and yet fully God...Mary, chosen by God, was a virgin and conceived by the Holy Spirit. It was a God thing, not a human thing. To believe otherwise is to believe we humans can redeem ourselves. Virgin conception (as well as resurrection) is incomprehensible by human thought, yet a reality. We believe in faith what we can't understand. We can't rationalize it with our finite human minds. To do so is folly and a mockery to God. God can and still does do what he will do despite our human ignorance. Faith is what it's all about.... "Now faith is the assurance things hoped for, the conviction of thing not seen." Hebrews 11:1 Folks, don't think you can rationalize all this... just reach out in honest heart felt faith and you'll get it.

Ya'll have a good night...

One key component that I had to deal with in my life was the basic question of: Do I believe this because I was taught it when I was growing up, or do I believe it because I have made a decision it is true for me.
I had to study to answer that question for myself. One thing that helped me along that path was a Lexicon and several dictionaries for Greek and Hebrew. The Hebrew of the Old Testament and the Greek of the New Testament had words that had different meaning just as we have words that have different meanings. For instant the saying give up your life could mean to die saving someone else or could mean set aside the things you would normally do to serve or take care of another person that is not capable of taking care of themselves. The lexicon had the word of the text and the dictionary gave me the meaning of that word. Thus I found for myself the correct word in the commandment thou shall not kill. The word translated to read kill in English was the word for murder in Hebrew.
I believe you can read the English translation and get the vital message, but when you study, it starts to give a belief that is not dependent on what someone taught you. People are imperfect so they get ideas that are incorrect from what they read without a through study.
I am not saying I have studied enough to think of myself as a bible scholar, I have not and am not. But I believe what I believe based on study. If you ask me a question today I will answer based on what I have come to believe. But with study if you ask me the same question five years from now, I may have a different slant on it based on what I have learned in the mean time. We grow as we are able. If we pray before we study, it will be revealed to us what we need to understand in that moment. What that is, is not based on my desire, but on God's will. I have to be open to that.

Remember, the "Catholic Bible" was written by a committee (Council of Nicaea). And the Wycliffe Bible was translated by John Wycliff (and others) and differs significantly from the "Catholic Bible" (ca: 1382). And Thomas Jefferson also wrote the Jeffersonian Bible (Now, THAT is interesting to read!).

Most believe that the bible is a prime example of man doing God's work on earth under His influence. Much the same as the spreading of Christianity by the Apostles.
Also much the same as the Pope's work in the 13th and 14th centuries. Popes of the inquisition ordered the torture and murder of hundreds of thousands of innocent victims that didn't follow his biblical interpretations.

Witness the massacre of the Cathars, assassination of the Eastern Orthodox Pope, persecution of the Irish during the Irish Genocide, the Crusades, the de Medicis, the Borgias and Pope Joan! Baptise the Latin American Indians and work them to death in the mines, torture and massacre Jews, collaborating with the Nazis, etc.

Someone once said that more people died in the name of God than for any other reason. But the main message of almost all religions is Peace and <Love of your fellow man!

Actually, Jesus was too peaceful to be human!
