My surgeon must have had some experience with engineering/construction folks. He diagramed my procedure on a white board with dry erase markers. And spoke in plumber's language. And, "We'll make four little holes but if there is any problem we will cut you open with conventional surgery."

Man! Gotta go with such an elequent description of the procedure!

His name is Wright, from Cookeville, TN. Possible fsmily connection, there.

Had a Surgeon tell me the same thing a couple weeks ago, only not "holes" but either a 3 inch cut or if once in and he needs to do more it would be conventional big scar and longer recovery. No dry erase board, just a life size spine/sacrum/and other parts I can't pronounce or spell.....I actually appreciate the direct confident approach.

I have had surgery for cancer 3 times. Each one was done with a robot through between 3 and 6 small holes. The surgeon who removed my prostate is the one who developed the procedure with the robot. The other 2 surgeries were in my left lung and the surgeon there was also very adept with the robot.

If they can do your surgery that way Bob you will need less time to recover.

I like real doctors, some of us tend to bring that out in them and that's a good thing.

Sounds like they've caught it early, maybe a not too invasive surgery, & a Dr. you like.

Thinking it's all going your way Bob. Good luck with the surgery, heal up soon, and of course, keep us posted if ya feel like it, we'll all be thinking about you.

Bob you can't go wrong with a Dr. named Wright. Sounds like he's a no BS kind of guy. I pray that you are in good hands and that you will have a good outcome. I pray that God will keep you in his care.

My heart surgeon was pretty blunt. All 5 feet of her, Bulgarian. When in medical school she was a boxer nicknamed "The Bulgarian Bulldog".
Tough as nails and no BS. I sure hope you guys have trouble free procedures.

I too am fortunate to have a doctor that tells it as it is and always has the time to speak, in detail, about anything that occurs. I am one that isn't big on surprises so he fits my way of thinking.
