I just picked up a new holster for my .45 New Vaquero 4 5/8" barrel, and it's exactly what I was looking for.
It's a Triple K 440-18 belt slide with a thumb break. This is not the model Ruger sells on its website. The 440 is made of heavier leather and costs about twice as much. It has a real thumb break like police officers used with double action revolvers. It can be worn strong side or cross draw. My Vaquero fit perfectly, and unlike the model Ruger sells, the retention strap fits the Vaquero perfectly.
I highly recommend it for anyone who doesn't want a Western style holster and one with retention that can be easily and quickly released. I don't plan on carrying my Vaquero for self defense, but this holster would let me and I don't have to worry about it falling out in the woods.
I don't know how this holster works with a Blackhawk (mine has a longer barrel) due to the rear sight, but I may order another to fit a 5.5" Blackhawk. I don't think it would work with a Bisley though.
