The Friends of the NRA are going to celebrate 25 years in 2017.
They have a special Ruger to go to the committees who have been continuous for these 25 years. There will ONLY be 70 of these guns.
Here is a copy of part of the email I received.

"With 2017 being our 25th Anniversary year, our 25 year committees will be receiving another gun to be auction off at their banquet next year. They will be receiving a Ruger Vaquero Stainless .45 Colt Revolver with our Anniversary logo AND special serialization. See attached flyer. We had Ruger put 1993-201701 through 70 as the serial number. MON-1 (our first event) will be receiving a special one with serial number 1992-201701 and will have Founding Committee engraved on it along with our Anniversary logo."

Now,, I will have a few pics as soon as I can. I'm hoping I can afford this gun when it hits my event. I have a deep pocketed friend & fellow collector who will likely go after it.

How and when will one be able to 'take a chance' on one of these? My local FoNRA is not on the list.

You will have to either attend one of these listed events,,, or get a representative to attend & spend for you. (That's why I listed the committees,,, so prospective bidders can can plan.) You can go to the Foundation site & see which committees are associated with the name & number. My committee is NCW-01,, which stands for North Carolina West,, 01 is my committee number. We were the first committee in NC. You would find we are based in Asheville NC.

Amazing how many events are in my state, with it being full of liberals.

Hey Tyrone, Let me know if you get outbid at your event. I might make one here in IL and can bid for you if I go. I will have to see if I'm off or not for any that are close to me.

Sounds like a cool gun, just not something I would want.

Hmmm...wonder if any accept absentee bids?

My local FoNRA is not on this list. Rumor has it that about 15 years ago (before I was a volunteer) we skipped a couple years having banquets due to poor or nonexistent leadership. Too bad 'cause we made the High Caliber Club a number of times recently.

Maybe when we get more info and some pics of the gun we can make it a Sticky here too.

Yes,,, if you contact a FoNRA rep who works any of the events where one of these guns will be,,, you should be able to make an absentee bid. Except at mine!

We'll be adding this info to the Lounge & made into a "Sticky" to help the FoNRA sell these for as much as we can.
