I believe they would be convertible models that shipped with two different cylinders... the pros can fill in the blanks for me... I know they were limited-production runs.

The New Vaquero (and 50th BH) would also seem a no brainer application for a "new" .38-40/.40 S&W convertible.

I have a 38-40/40S&W convertible but I didn't know that there were so few like it. Ruger's Customer Service won't release the production numbers. I have tried to sell it before (in Boise, Idaho). Maybe I should have asked for more money?

The revolvers are very nice to shoot with the 40S&W. The heavy Vaquero really stands up to the recoil. I reload the 38-40s. The factory ammo is getting too expensive.

Those are pretty cool! Not too many around and when found sadly often missing one or the other cylinder--the previous owner having decided he/she didn't need "the other" after all. Another convertible combo that'd make a lot of sense as a New Vaquero as well.

But make mine a 40 S&W / 10mm Convertible please

A new flatop Blackhawk in stainless with that setup would really be nice!

If the one cylinder was the .38-40 and the other a 10mm, the latter should be able to shoot .40 as well? If not, make it a 3 cylinder affair!

If it uses moon clips then you could ream it out to take 10mm, and you would be able to use 40 S&W in them. OTOH, you can run 40 pretty hot (to match 10)in a revolver, not a semi auto.

The 40 and 10mm will headspace off the mouth of the case so it would be best to have seperate cylinders and why use moon clips on a single action?

Ruger did make a New Model Blackhawk in 38-40/10mm, "S3840". Had one at one time, but sold it to somebody.

Mine was one of my typical "even a blind hog finds an acorn every once in a while" finds. It is one of the 5.5 Davidson's 38-40/40 S&W Vaqueros.. I knew it was "special" when I saw the black box...

Those 38-40/10mm Blackhawks are the '89/90ish Buckeye Blackhawks.... Made for the big distributor Buckeye Sports. Everyone needs at least one of these things.... Ruger nuts need two... Here are my 38-40/10mm and 32-20/32 mag Buckeye Blackhawks. They came with steel grip frames and a buckeye etched in the top strap...

Here is one that got trimmed to 4 5/8 along the way...
