I was at the gun show today. I met a friend and co-worker who was discouraged over the prices on weapons and ammo. He and his wife are looking for a .22 auto and all they saw was/like was in the $450 range.

I have a Ruger Mark III 22/45 (date of manufacture - 2007). I've only put about a thousand rounds, or less, through it. I can't remember the last time I shot it.

Anyway I thought I'd offer it to him. It's in like new condiition - no box, no manual - has two mags.

What do you think would be a fair and reasonable price to ask?

I don't want to rip him off and I don't want to give it away. Thanks.

Welcome to the Forum!
If you look at "completed auctions" on GunBroker, you'll see what they have been selling for. However, gun prices have been on the rise for many models.
A few factors about your gun make differences in value. They include the finish, (blue or stainless,) which model of 22/45, (Not just the MKIII designation, but barrel type & length,) adjustable sighted or fixed sights version etc. As we like to say, "The devil is in the details."
Value could be $300 to over $500 depending,,!

Depends on what version of 22/45 Mark III you have. Some things to consider when pricing or comparing price values: barrel length and style, Target model or Standard, finish blued or stainless, what was the actual retail price you paid for the firearm. Next, how good of a friend is this and how much you are willing to deal. The value has appreciated a little bit over the years so I'd mark up my original price modestly and add a little to the asking price for negotiation room. This way you can settle on your original valuation and both parties feel as if they made a sound deal. I see you've already considered that this firearm sees little use and could be better utilized by someone else. Is the reason why you don't shoot it so often due to the grip size? If so, then it will definitely be better suited to fit a female's hand dimensions and will see more use than it it does now.

This is the:

Target Model - Ruger 22/45 Mark III - 4.5" barrel - bull barrel - blue - finish is like new - not a scratch on it.

I don't use it because there's almost always something else to try. I did buy it because the grandson liked it. We shot it a couple of times and then no interest. Grip wise it's fine.

As to the friend he's an OK guy and honest.

Thanks for the reply.

2007 in many places this model could be had for around $199 retail. Ask for $275 and deal at $250. Or something along those lines.
