Use it or Lose it

I do get what you mean about finding a shooter and save the pretty one. I never thought I would be one of those guys but after I had my SP101 engraved I had to get another one to carry and shoot. I guess it happens to some of us?

Why does it have to look like new? You use it, it is going to gain some 'character'. Not saying you go out of your way to get some character. It just comes with age and sliding in/out of the holster and a knock here as it comes up :) . Rather have blued/case hardened/case colored here. And 'all' guns that are serviceable should be shot.
Just my preference. I would, however, still buy a well used 3 screw Blackhawk or Super Blackhawk if I could. I have both a S&W and a Colt 1917. Both look their age finish wise, but lock up tight.

Great looking Super,
My 1973 Colt Centennial is a regular shooter but not abused or carried in a holster. Had a very faint turn line from an owner not familiar with the working of a single action Colt revolver.

If I just want to look at and admire a firearm or exotic car rather than use it, I'll make a photo of it and hang that on the wall.

I'm thinking of a newly-made Colt SAA, stainless, Bisley frame, .45 LC. To me it has no collector value because it is a new firearm with no history - it is not 100 years old. So, none of this for me:

It is going to get 50 rounds through it on the first day.
