just acquired a 77/17 variation tha I've been looking for a while now. Varmit/laminate version with high gloss stainless finish instead of the target gray. Upon arrival and inspection the barrel measures only 20 inches instead of the standard 24 inches. My concern is the barrel is a replacement and not original. It does have the warning rollmark and the caliber marking and they appear to be factory.Would Ruger records be able to help or does anybody have any input on this matter?

High gloss stainless? Sure it's not the regular ol stainless? What's the box label indicate?
Check with Ruger's records dept. as to the manner in which it shipped.

stainless finish like that of the synthetic 77/22's not the low glare target gray.

That makes more sense. Not what is referred to as a high gloss finish though, just the regular stainless.

Be sure to send me a PM and maybe we can figure something out on that one. Am curious as to sn and if it falls in very early production of the heavy barrel laminate.
