Today's gun show find - Spoiler alert Daughter's hunting rifle

Is the Gun Shop still open in Idaho falls? Drove truck for UPS truckload Division, one of our customers (Ferguson plumbing) was on Stanley st. Get there stay at the truck stop right off Hwy 20. Take my 10hr break. Just to get out of truck would walk down the 3-4 block to the Gun shop. Browse the store. Even closed the store couple of times just talking with guys and gals at Gun counter. Good people always enjoyed stopping in. Had few good buys just couldn't make it happen with S&H charges to send them home.

They are still open, but they have had a lot of turnover the last few years. There's only a couple of guys still around since I started going there back in 2017 when we moved here. Their used section is a lot smaller as they have changed their consignment policy. I used to have one or two down there for sale but not in while now.

The local gun show is usually a quick 30-minute walkthrough and off to the next exciting thing to do in Idaho Falls on a Saturday in May but today was a bit different. There were a couple of guys set up with some nice old Ruger revolvers but luckily nothing I "needed". Stopped and visited with them for a while and then walked away happy my wallet had been spared. The last row ended up being my downfall with a couple of items I've been halfheartedly looking for with one of them being a nice compact hunting rifle for my teenage daughter. I was really looking for a 7/08 for her but both her older brother and I use the 308. This nice old M77 RSI was sitting in the second to last table. It was missing the rear site, and the stock had been cut down and sports an older recoil pad. The price matched the issues, so it came home with me. The Bushnell Elite 3200 3-10 compact had been on her 10/22 and had been recently replaced. It was a perfect fit for this 308.

As we were walking out a nice older gentleman shook his head as he walked past Taryn who was carrying it. "I knew I shouldn't have walked away from that one, you made a great purchase." Once we got to the truck, she asked me if I knew that guy and how much I paid him to say that? She knows me too well, but this time I was innocent.

Any leads on a replacement rear site would be appreciated. I can tell why they took it off as it would be in the way of the scope, but I'd still like to have one for it.

I am kinda partial to Mannlicher stocks myself, have a couple CZ's. Looks like you need the entire rear sight assembly, if this model dovetails into a ramp, as others I have seen. May have to call Ruger about it.
It's a beautiful rifle, she should like it. A great find.
