To Hide, Or Not To Hide?

I treat my firearms like frying pans, shovels, rakes, and any other tool. I don't hide them, I don't advertise them. My neighborhood has street cred for a lot of veterans and a lot of firearms via vicissitudes over the years. When I carry, I conceal except at work at the range where I open carry IWB. That keeps everybody calm, cool, and collected. Everything is copesetic in my world with firearms. I have security cameras and vigilant neighbors/friends. I keep police both county and state updated as to the status of my firearms e.g. personal transfer or destruction. No problemo!

Well, yes and no. Put up a mfr. sigh such as "Protected by ADT " and you you are telling bad guys how to circumvent your system,. Motion sensor lights are good. CAMERAS: hard wired only. If you can watch with your cell. anyone can.
I once caused a fit of horror in a building manager who told me he can control the elevators from his home computer, by telling him that any decent hacker could, too. Suddenly we dident have anymore elevator problems.

Michigan State Police keep record of handgun ownership. If you want to get rid of one, they will come and pick it up and destroy it. If you sell or gift one you can write them an email with the particulars including FFL used and they will mark the handgun sold or sold out of state in their database.

There is nothing on my home, any of my cars, my motorcycle or my attire which would signal that I am a firearm owner or gun rights supporter. Nor would I put a "Trump" sign on my lawn or the bumper of my cars, because it changes no one's mind but does invite cowardly vandalism by the mentally challenged Leftists.

Years ago I had read about at least a few cases where a thug followed a car to the owner's home solely based upon pro-gun bumper stickers, with the intention apparently for burglarizing the home when it was unoccupied. I thought about it for about a second and then decided to remove my NRA decal from the back window of my car, and my Glock bumper sticker from the rear bumper. An added benefit was that it increased the peace within my home as my wife is not a gun person in the least, and she drives the same cars that we own. We agreed that I would not put gun things on the cars, and she would not put her quilting humorous bumper stickers on them as well.

And other than one nice NRA t-shirt that I do not wear unless I have a shirt over it, I do not have any pro-gun or pro-2A attire. I do nothing to compromise the possible advantage that carrying concealed might be giving me as defense against violent crime.
I saw one I really liked.

Caution: Does not work or play well with others.

I may actually get that one.

Wouldn't it be nice if someone created a home version of a man trap, that could hold intruders, for a time until the police can come to collect them?

That's unbelievable.

You'd probably get sued and depending on who has the best lawyer they might just win... seems like a couple years ago some dude broke into a house while the family was on vacation and got trapped in the garage and spent close to a week living off dog food and he sued the owners after they got home and rescued him..... but then I'm still trying to figure out how one gets trapped in a garage... I honestly don't think there is the average home built that I could not break out of if I had the time. Most new houses with vinyl siding you can get into with a good pocket knife....
