A couple weeks ago I found a Lodge Aebleskiver pan at the thrift store. It was in near perfect condition for $5.

I can only guess but I would say the person who took originally bought it didn't know how to make Aebleskivers. I've tried twice now and still need more practice. They aren't the easiest thing to make.

Anyway, just had some for late breakfast early lunch. Basically they are profiteroles made with Pâte à choux dough. Which are French puff pastries. They just have to have a different word for everything 😀

And the pan in question all I did when I bought it was wash it really well and heat it up good on the stovetop to kill any germs. I don't think they make this pan anymore. But it's the Lodge Logic model.

Yeah, sorry. Round pancakes. But not quite. The first time I made them I used regular pancake mix. They were definitely good.

Today I used an actual Aebleskivers mix. They turned out so different. They cook hollow so you can add a filling. That was the trouble I was having today. I couldn't get the balls to cook staying closed up and to keep the filling inside.

I'll keep trying!

I think you need to get a job at one of the restaurants here in Greenville.. you used words in your post that I don't have a clue what they are... much like the menus on a lot of the places my wife makes me take her to here.

Aebleskivers?

Pâte à choux? I think you actually defined that one....

Dang....need a translator.....I have a lot of cast iron collected over the years and it's my go to for cooking and grilling.....but never anything that fancy sounding was brought to edible status in mine.....nor will it.......oh wait.....I made those "crepe" things once for my EX WIFE once.....haven't since......fanciest breakfast you will get on my cast iron is fresh ground corn meal hotcakes type stuff with seared back strap or fresh thick cut bacon.

Me?
I would have used that pan to melt my 100lb pieces of lead in to small enough ingots to fit in my small melting pot!!
Guess I need some culture.............. :ROFLMAO:

How about ingots for lead lollipops? These are a special treat for criminals. One serving and they generally don't want a second helping. Much more effective than marbles too!!

That's a great find for $5. Now I need one, to add to my collection of way too many pots and pans. I love cooking with cast iron, or steel.

To maintain the" seasoning" of the cast iron, use flax seed oil. It isn't cheap but works exceptionally well. I used to use primarily peanut oil, and still do touch s with that.
