Things from the 70’s

Help Support Ruger Forum:

Ahh …. Brings back some memories

Stainless steel appliances and microwaves...my greatgreatgrandmother had a very up-to-date kitchen; the 40s-built prairiestyle got these upgrades in the early 60s. Lavalamps were early 60s, and they were fragile; hot wax is practically impossible to remove from anything.

My first car was a 67 Rambler American Wagon, laugh if you want but wed night at the drive -in was $2.00 a carload, I could stack about 15 kids in the back of that thing. then the back of the wagon itself, glad it couldn't talk. My dream car was a 70 Dodge challenger with a 383 4 speed, Never did get one.
I had an AMC Rambler wagon at one point. I am not sure as to the exact year but I know it was a 1970-something.

The oven here is the same avocado green one that came when the house was built and still running strong. The microwave we have is the one my husband and brother saved up to get their mother three presents in one: Mother's Day, birthday and Christmas in 1978.

Both are likely to outlast the both of us living here.
My mother loved avocado green. We had an avocado green gas stove & refrigerator for years.

Thinking the new fridge 1st wife & I had a big one over was green. She flew of the handle when I was going to the bank to get a loan for a new Colt Python cause she had to defrost the hand me down fridge we had every week. So, $250 for a Python, & $250 for a damn fridge. More payments but I got the Colt that day & drove the truck to town next day for the fridge.

Life in the 70's. FWIW, I was no longer wearing bell bottoms when I bought the Python.

While in the military I bought a 1969 AMC SCrambler coupe. 390 4-speed. Bought it used for $750 from a car lot in Santa Maria CA.
It's worth about $30,000 now fully restored. Apparently it was a rare car, painted white with blue and red stripes. Limited production. I was 24 years old. To me it was just a neat fast car.
Also owned a 1970 Ford Thunderbird with a 429 big block. That car was a beast.
Unfortunately I no longer own either car.
Those were wonderful days 😁 😎😍❤️

Some throw around the term Millennials like they're 20 years old right now but most are in their 40's. It's the two following generations that are unlikely to know some of the terms spoken of herein. Millennials were around '70's stuff unless we think people replaced/remodeled every five years. No offense as I am Gen X. I AM the '70's.

Beware the halter top wearing chick drinking MD20/20 🤮 you are most likely in the wrong neighborhood.....

Halter top wearing chick drinking Boones Farm is the way to go......:cool: you most likely in a good place.....for me it was the bed of a pick up truck parked at a bon fire in the middle of the woods or a field.....the 70's were great.
An maybe come away with a souvenir.

Saw a couple at the AMC National Convention in Petersburg Va last year, many incredible AMX's, Javlins, Ramblers, Germlins, probably close to 300 cars, GREAT show and stuff you just don't see anymore
Always liked the AMX. Dad tried to get AMC Matadors for work. They were state fleet cars so he knew they had regular maintenance.
