Things from the 70’s

Help Support Ruger Forum:

I think the 1970 models were some of the best across the board.
My first car was a 1970 R/T Dodge Charger with a 440 Magnum. It was blue with a black vinyl top. It was decked out with an automatic transmission, power steering, power brakes, tachometer, cruise control, air conditioning and heater, AM/FM/8Track radio, and a console shifter. I miss the leaf windows, glass head lights, metal bumpers, and a passenger side mirrors that did not say "objects in mirror are closer than they seem".

The only thing I like better now than what they had back then is some of the guns and bullets.

Must have been nice...mine was a rusted out '59 Ford Fairlane 500 coupe...straight 6 and 3 on the Tree...most millennials don't know how to drive a stick or even know what "3 on the tree" even means...big sigh...I'm showing that I'm a geezer, but I had FUN

I love the spare tire cover that I have seen with a standard shift pattern that says

"Millennial Anti Theft Device"

We can look at any decade and say, "Oh that was so silly!" Slicked back hair, make fun of it. Fluffy hair, make fun of it. Wide ties, narrow ties.
Wide or narrow belts or lapels or cuffs...designers still change things around, and people will still buy it.
Oh, look, dearie, shes wearing McMishmashigan's latest frockette, do we give an appraising glance, or a snickering sneer? Well, her daddy does trend the latest clicks in his bricknmortar, maybe best we dont appear overltly either way for now, let her bring it up; my stomach may have calmed down by then...

Graduated highschool in 1979. I bought my first handgun in 1984. A Dan Wesson stainless 357 Magnum. My first rifle as well, a Springfield Model 1903 in 30-06.
Paid $150 for the Dan Wesson and $100 for the Springfield.

People, especially womenfolk, want new looks so designers change things. I've never had a man come into my store and say, "I'm just so tired of my kitchen, it is so 1993!"

Unfortunately, that can be true for clothing as well which is why you see some guys my age that still dress like Tony Manero in Saturday Night Fever.

Fortunately, I've been a conservative dresser since college so my pics from the 80s aren't too comical.

I have two 1970's collectable cars! A 1972 Cutlass 442 with a 455 that I've had 28 years and just finally painted it myself last June and am close to having the interior installed. And a Craig 8 track tape player will be installed! Both cars are under 50,000 actual miles.

And a 1976 Corvette that was my cousin's car from the early 1980's. It's still Mike's car, I'm just taking care of it for him. It is a needy vehicle but fun to cruise in!
