I hate to say it but the Chinese may already own us.... we buy so much of their 'cr@p' ..

I needed to update the wireless igniting system for the fireworks display I'm doing in September and the company that makes all this stuff... Bilusocn, don't ask me how to pronounce that, .... has a web site you can order items from... I placed a very small order for three receivers and a hand held transmitter.... this was the cheapest way to get two receivers... $42 total with free shipping..
Now here is the thing... After a couple of days I get an email that my order has been shipped and it is coming 'SF-Express'. now understand this is a package that could be shipped USPS, UPS or Fedex .... I have never heard of SF-Express and so I figure because we are now in the Information Age I'll track the package..... just like you can with UPS, Fedex and sort of with USPS...... first problem was they sort of hid the shipping number from me... and I found the SF-Express web site but could not get the number put in right... but did finally... and like all of these shipping places a nice screen pops up showing the location and route and even expected deliver date and on top of that a map of the route....

Here is what it all looked like:

No, It's because people buy Chinese made products.

Yesterday I needed a set of pliers. I was at Home Depot anyway. And went over to the tool section. Found one set of pliers marked "made in China." (Dewalt brand.)

Found another set. Marked "proudly designed, and tested in USA." Then in small print. Very small. "Made in China."

Bought the third set, marked "100% Made in USA." And the funny thing was, the prices were all the same. Literally, the pair I bought was $1 cheaper than the Chinese pair. The Channel Locks brand. They are the ones with the Blue handle.

Didn't the Chinese invent fireworks? Did you have a choice on different igniters? Are there any that aren't made in China?

That's going to be a long drive over to South Carolina.

I can't for the life of me figure out how they can sell the wireless system for the price they do. The cheap little receivers only cost about $12 each and the control box transmitter is something like $125 on its own..... I'm working on a you tube video of how the thing works.... now the actual 'igniters' are electric matches that you hook to the receivers and that is a whole different discussion. there is one company here in the U.S, that makes and sells these that they have made in Mexico... but you can find all over the internet the ones made in China.... the U.S. company out of New Jersey claims all the ones from China are illegal and that they are 'smuggled' in via commercial airlines in folks luggage.... but I will say in testing both kinds the Chinese ones have about twice as good a kick /spark as the Mexican ones..... the fireworks display I have to put on in September ... we've cut back on ... last two years we set off over $5,000 worth of fireworks this year I'm working on just over $3,000.

Oh, and if anyone wants to help me figure out that map... I presume the end location is me here in Greenville, S.C. but I can't figure out what are the main orange roads let alone the expected delivery date and time..... gonna take another 2 weeks?

The Chinese are purty-dern smart....They take our worthless FRN's for their overpriced junky stuff, then they take the 'debt notes' they accumulate through that process and buy gold....and just to be more specific, they buy it by the metric ton....which has drastically added to the value of their currency, while adding to the decrease of ours....Yep, they been doing that for years....Plus, for reasons that I can't fathom, we (as a nation) have been allowing them to buy property over here.....And all the while, they've had missiles pointed at us.....

.....On the other hand, maybe it ain't so much that they are smart. Maybe it's more that we are a bunch of dummies...LOL.

I printed out the map and then tried to look at the roads of the U S zooming out from Greenville... and then I realized the river in the lower right would be easier to start with, but wait a minute.... there isn't a river that runs down through S.C. and over into Georgia like that...... now I'm thinking this might just be the first leg of the journey and that map actually is in China.... what I ordered said it would be shipped from the U.S. don't know if that is just another Chinese translation mistake or maybe they ship it in from the U.S. to the main hub in China and then out to where ever the deliver point is.... I would not be surprised at this with how A.I. is working these days....

The Chinese 'OWN US' for one simple reason: Americans demand wages that place the products they make beyond the reach of other Americans' (and their own) income. It's an ever escalating struggle with no end until 'our' position on the planet is so compromised that 'we' no longer have control of 'our lives'.
At the time I retired the first time, my job paid a very reasonable salary for the area and the 'early out' retirement annuity was attractive considering I was young enough to get another job. Fifteen years later that annuity isn't at all attractive but neither would it be if I'd retired last year. That job I had which was a 'very reasonable' pay scale isn't anymore and the retirement annuity is 'subsistence level'.
My Son has changed jobs twice in the previous 2 1/2 years and his 'sign on' bonus each time was over half of what my year's salary was in 2009.
America is about to fall into a Global toilet and such things as unrestricted illegal aliens and huge numbers of 'entitlement' class are pulling the flush lever.

The meme did not fully convey my intent.
I should have added that the clowns pictured were elected to their position, putting the blame squarely on us, We The People. Shipping those jobs to cheap foreign labor has cost this country severely on many levels, not just at the store.

As a professional wrench, mover, and turner of things, I rely heavily on Channel Lock tools - quality, durability and made in USA.

ETA:
Came back to say, I have always LOL'ed Dewalt hand tools as the cheap, rebadge, Chinese junk that they are.

Some of Chinese made products are still junk but even that is changing. DJI originally built on gimbal technology is now making drones and they are excellent quality products. Nothing made in the U.S. comes close to their quality or price. China's standard of living has also been increasing rapidly.

Unless I'm badly mistaken, President Nixon stopped the exchange of USD for our gold reserve back during his tenure. France, specifically, was buying all of our gold at the time. The USD has been based on essentially nothing since the early 1970s.

Nixon stopped countries from exchanging currency for gold, which we citizens were already prohibited from doing.

One thing for sure. American's do NOT own America. 35 trillion in Debt should tell you something. Interest on that dept alone is 1 trillion dollars every three months and what do we do. Give millions more to Foreign Countries. The interest alone on that debt is more than we spend on our own Military. And our Military is at the worst point it has been in 50 years.
Oh, we are owned all right. In more ways than one. We sure as hell do NOT own our own Defense Dept. And God only knows how many US Senators and Congressman have sold out to foreign lobby. Nothing but low life traitors.

I am by no means an economic expert but the other side of the coin from all the crap we are buying from China is look at all the guns, weapons and such we are selling to other countries... we sell more to the rest of the world than Russia and China put together.... we are the big boy when it comes to international arms sales.... I always find it funny when a tv show has the bad guy as an international arms dealer..... I need to go check the progress of my order.... see where it has gotten to on the planet. (Shipped from U.S., yeah right)

A contributing factor is the way American juries award tons of cash to any moron who hurts themselves doing something moronic. If you read the warning labels on products, you realize they're intended for people who are too stupid to read...

Showed your map to my wife, who spent a little time in China - she says your package was in Hangzhou (at the "In Transit" label) & probably headed to Shanghai (which is just northeast of there) for export...

As always FWIW, YMMV, IMHO, etc.

It just boggles my brain... what I ordered was dirt cheap... A wireless transmitter controller and three receiver 'cues' for $42.oo with free shipping... I actually think they had the same thing listed for the same price but it was going to be shipped from Germany and not the U.S.A.... Heck, I might just order that one and see what happens...

From Germany:

From U.S.A. (one I ordered)
