For want of a better term. :) I bought a 77-22 Hornet, the gray All-Weather model from a friend. It's a great rifle and shoots very well. The first thing I did when I got it home was to clean it, or try to. After 3 online purchases I finally found a bore guide that fit. There was (is) a little hook shaped doohah in the left side of the chamber that the bolt slides over but won't allow your typical bore guide through. I did not get any Ruger booklet or paperwork or schematics with the rifle. Does anyone what this doohah does? Thanks.

If your "doohah" is in the left rear of the bolt raceway not in the
chamber, its probably the standing fixed ejector. You can get a
model specific cleaning rod guide with a relief for the ejector that
works perfectly from : http://www.sinclairintl.com/. I suspect that
the one you want despite your rifle being a .22 Hornet, is the one
they list for a Winchester Model 52 and the M77/22 but you can call
or email them for clarification if you need to. Hope this helps. Oh
One other suggestion, you may want to find some other things to
order from Sinclair or get a group of friends to go in with you on a
larger order to justify the relatively high shipping costs for such a
lightweight item(theirs is made of Delrin, a synthetic structural Nylon)
and oh yes, get the solvent port they offer as well, it will save you
some spilled solvent.

Thanks guys. One of the bore guides I bought was from Sinclair and it left ALOT to be desired. I ended up with one from Pro-Shot which fits very well. I'll check out the Ruger address. Thanks again. :D

I have a bore gide w/ solvent port from Midway for my 77-223. It has a rubber o ring to keep solvent out of the action. Also have a larger one for the O3.
