Wow, how could he be busted? It's actually a UN war crime for anybody at ALL to ever ask a special person for proof of their support iguana's legitimacy... You can't challenge that, you might just as well ask them for a Vot..... well, never mind... ;)
The dog misbehaved in front of an off duty K9 officer.... It got sorted out in short order time after that.

I think it's like the disabled parking stickers. A lot of people get them that aren't really in need of them. So of the dogs are important especially vets .
How do you know who doesn't need it?
A lot of disabilities can't be obviously seen.

I say that but then again, I have known several people who's "disability" was, they couldn't stop putting food in their mouth, which led to diabetes and a crapload of other health problems because they weighed 400 pounds and they had to.get a scooter to ride around in because they could not walk.

Personally I am in favor of service animals; but "emotional support animal" is a bunch of crap. We call those pets. Leave them at home.

I have worked with people who get them for their parents and use the stickers to park in handicapped spots. I have one for end stage arthritis but use it mostly for my wife. If she is not with me sometimes I won't use the space. I think sometimes the service is abused like service animals. Service pony trying to get on an airplane.?

I saw a guy one time pull screaming into the parking lot of our local indoor sports park (soccer, basketball, volleyball courts). Fly into the handicap spot, jump out of his car and run into the building. Guess he was late for the game. Since I was bored, and feeling like an a-hole, I called the cops, then sat and waited.

The look on the idiot's face as he was getting a ticket, and getting his placard confiscated, was absolutely worth it.

A few years ago at a local major NHRA event, the State Police set up a checkpoint at the entrance to the large handicap parking lot. The entrance to the parking lot is a long single lane with curbs on both sides and the checkpoint was set up around a bend where once you spotted it you couldn't get out of line.

Local TV news teams had also set up at the checkpoint to record the reactions and sheepish looks on people's faces as the officers ran the placard number and determined the person who was assigned the placard wasn't in the vehicle. The placard was confiscated and the driver received a ticket with a hefty fine. The police handed out hundreds of tickets at that checkpoint. Those were fun and heartwarming news reports to watch.

Once saw a Malibu city employee pull into a handicap spot at a park. As I was taking photos he got upset and mouthy. A call to the city resulted in being blown off.

The California Highway Patrol was considerably more interested. They ticketed the driver.
At the time I didn't have a have a handicap placard. Now that I do I will turn in anyone parked illegally.

We have handicap permits mostly because Grouch Attack feels she 'needs one' and I was issued one after my hip surgery and got it renewed during recovery after the fire injuries. I don't generally use the privilege but will if there are lots of handicapped spaces sitting empty.
I chuckled as I watched a young guy get ticketed for using his Grandmother's handicap sticker. Cop said "That is for your Grandmother not you even though you're driving her car. BTW does she know you're driving her car?"

So, you have one because your spouse "feels she needs one" and another that by your own admission, you choose often not to use. But somehow, you don't feel like you are abusing that same system on any level, because it's you and your wife.

Maybe I wasn't clear, Grouch Attack has health issues that definitely qualify her for handicapped parking privilege. I think her condition would be improved by walking but she doesn't. Therefore, she 'thinks' she should use the privilege and her Doctor agrees. She will use a handicapped space if one is available and demands I park there for her benefit.
My doctor(s) think I should not be walking as much as I do and authorize the permit. I don't agree 100% and often choose not to take a space from someone who really 'needs' the privilege.
