 I really think it could be. Beautifully proportioned, it probably could/should have been chambered in .40S&W, and 9MM. But I think Ruger had a "Stiffy" at the time to produce a striker pistol so they could compete with Glock. I think between the SR-9 and the P-345 the "45" is the better gun. What do you guys think?

I would agree. I have a few grips with the 345 but overall I like it. I will always take a 45 over a nine but would pass on the SR9 even if it was a 45 too. Still just too many problems to suit me.

The P-345 Ruger's Best Pistol
While I think the P345 is an excellent pistol (magazine safety withstanding), I much prefer the P90 and think it to be the best pistol of Ruger's current models. Now, if we take discontinued models into account, that honor might belong to the MARK II Government :)

I shot one the other day, it worked well. However, it felt a bit top heavy for some reason.
Definitely liked the real P's better.
I don't consider it a P.

Maybe a little clarification. P345 v. SR9. I'll take the 345. But would not agree on the best pistol part. That for me would be the p90 or the p95.

I could live without the mag. disconnect (and do), the LCI and all the warnings. But overall mine has satisfied, oh except maybe a little better trigger if you please, but it still gets the job done for me.

As much as I like my P345... I like my P95 even more.

I think the P95 is the best P-series pistol Ruger ever built... with the P93 a very close (though a bit heavier) second! :D

I have owned a P89, P95, two P90'S, and currently own a P94 and P345.

I have also owned various pistols by Browning, Taurus, Sig, CZ, Astra, Para, Auto Ordnance, AMT, S&W, and probably several more that escape memory.

IMHO, the P345 and the CZ-75B are the finest semi-auto pistols I have ever owned.

I think the P90 is the best P-series Pistol Ruger has built, even though My Favorite, and CCW is the P97. The Grip fits my hands better and therefore I can shoot it better. Mine is just as reliable as my P90.

I picked up P90DC because the price was very right just before I was going to get an M&P45. Never got the M&P and haven't had too much interest in non-1911 .45 pistols since because the P90 shoots so well. I might give the p345 a look, but the P90 will be hard to beat.

Well, you're half right ... the part about the CZ75B LOL !! :D
The other half would certainly be a Colt 1911 !!

As much as I love my P345 and it's my day to day carry weapon.

It's doesn't hold the nuts of my Ruger wheelguns

I've had no problems with mine, and while I agree the P90 is a good pistol as well.... in a carry gun between the two. I pick the 345, it's lighter, thinner and much easier to carry.
